A Lesson
Classes went really well today. I learned a lesson I have learned before, but apparently needed to be reminded of. Appearances are not always what they seem. Example: There is this spooky chick in my class that has in the past really gotten on my nerves. I knew I had no real reason to dislike her. She simply annoyed me. She happened to be friends with one of my best friends, and he knew how I felt. Today the class the three of us share got out early, so they were going to coffee and my friend invited me along. I hesitated out of the shear annoyance I feel for this girl, but decided to go anyway. I am SO glad I did. We grabbed a coffee and then we were outside sharing a smoke. We talked and then she and I went to our mutual class, while my friend departed. She and I discussed school and I was able to vent some of my current fears surrounding graduate school. She happens to know about that shit and offered friendly advice. My face is red due to my child-like behavior of judging a book by it's cover.
I did a similar act a few years ago involving what is now a dear friend, Brad. He added something to my life that no one else could have - and my own ignorance could have prevented that if we were not forced to work together in our spanish class by some fate above that wanted to teach me a lesson!
