Altruism
There is this idea of altruism....that someone can do something for someone else without any amount of selfishness.
I am not sure that this term is real. I have a hard time seeing anyone doing something for someone else that isn't ultimately for their own benefit. Whether that be that they feel better about themselves, expect something in return now or later, want to achieve a "hero" status or other type of similar status.
Am I being too cynical?
