well I definitely don't think no one is rude, people are definitely rude lol. but I don't think it's a cultural thing, it's a personal thing -- the labeling I mean. One person may find a certain arrangement of facial features, or a certain body shape and type, to be attractive, while the next person doesn't find it attractive in any way. (I actually think it's really weird how we judge attractiveness based on symmetry or nonsymmetry of facial features, or on face shape, etc; on totally random, uncontrollable features made of squishy flesh and veins... if you really think about it it's pretty strange lol.) Or one person may have a basis for intelligence (for example, punctuation and use of typing skillz) that the next person (me) thinks is not an accurate judge of intelligence whatsoever. I just mean, every one has a different definition of... everything. and there's no saying that one definition is more right than the next one. so if everyone has a different idea of beauty, and everyone judges intelligence differently, how can we say that any one actually IS stupid, or IS ugly, absolutely, with no question? we can only say what WE perceive. we can also say what we think would be the common perception (such as most people probably think this person: http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2007/10/15/wildenstein_lead.jpg -- is ugly) but we can't really know for certain.
also, it seems that the people I think are "ugly" tend to be annoying, rude, shallow people -- I can't help but put a layer of personality over people's faces. so it really makes a difference, if you're a complete asshole, you're going to be really ugly to me. ya know? whereas if you're really awesome I'm more likely to see you as beautiful. plus to me it's kind of like, if you're JUST "good looking" -- I really don't care. obviously when I was little I got crushes on random cute celebrities just cuz they were cute, but now I just see them as "good looking" and that's it... I don't care. and I especially don't respect people who use their looks instead of their personality and talents to "get ahead". but I know the way our culture (and probably the world) works is that if you're perceived as good looking you're automatically more interesting and more attractive and people want to mate with you. I guess it's evolutionary or whatever, you want attractive babies... or some shit. :D
as for intelligence, I can't remember (at the MOMENT) any one I've met who was TRULY stupid. but I have met people with totally different types of intelligence. I just don't think it's fair to judge anyone's intelligence based on one person's singular worldview. especially when it's a Western worldview, cuz we totalllyyy don't understand other cultures, and a lot of people don't want to. basically I don't think we should call a manual laborer automatically "stupid" just because he hasn't had a Western education, and says "ain't". he probably knows and understands a lot of things we don't, being from a totally different niche of life. wow that was long, haha.
