So, about that Janome...
A while back there was mention of me possibly getting a new sewing machine, a coworker's old Janome. After that we had issues at work (still not sure what happened, but we were cats and dogs that week) and there was no mention any further about it. I figured she was really mad at me and revoked the offer, but it turns out she hadn't said anything because she dropped the machine off for servicing so that it's all shiney-new! What a doll! ^_^
Manchii's having some sort of photo-shoot or get together this weekend where we're supposed to wear a costume. I don't have anything pret-a-porter that doesn't involve immobility, needing a handler, blindness, or overheating, so while I plan on making a few simple costumes this year to have comfortable things that are easy to wear, I hadn't got to it yet and need something stat. Chief said San from Mononoke would be a good one since I wouldn't need a wig, and I happen to have a reasonable number of parts already handy (blue sleeveless dress the right length, earrings, model magic, and white fabric) So I just need faux fur, red paint, leather straps, and stuff to make some quick weapons. Interestingly, the earrings are the round white things I removed from Bird's earrings, but I saved them because I thought they would work well if anyone ever did Mononoke.... being a packrat works sometimes... It will be interesting since I usually don't incorporate speed as a component of costume making, that I'm doing this all on Friday!
In other news, I also need something easy to wear to Mega beause I refuse to wear a heavy ballgown for the whole weekend, so San takes care of that issue, though I'm also taking another easy costume once I get online to plave my mask order - I'm throwing together an Admiral Ackbar for the laughs that are sure to come from that. I just need to hit up the thriftstore, spray paint a few things, and make the obligatory box of cereal (type in Admiral Ackbar Cereal on youtube if you haven't an idea why I need a box of cereal). For a costume that is purely for laughs, I have no hard feelings about not making it or closeting it, though I did actually work fairly hard on King of All Cosmos, but you can't really buy a head like that at Goodwill, now can you?
