The last book I bought
A couple months ago, I picked up Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Was a decent book from what i remember the first time I read it, though I've heard that the rest of the series is pretty lackluster.

The Rise of Endymion by Dan Simmons. Couldn't resist the urge to pick up the latter half of his Hyperion series once again. Amazing stuff.
Five books that mean a lot to me
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - I read this back in 8th grade and I read it just about once a year. It's one of the funniest books ever written, and the focus on verbal humor has been an influence on me ever since.
The Soulforge by Margaret Weis. Within 18 hours of purchasing this book, I had read it cover to cover. Covers the early life of Raistlin from the Dragonlance saga - a character I've always liked because his ambition and sheer willpower could get him through anything. Also, unlike Harry freaking Potter, he starts off with neither jack nor shit (as opposed to a small fortune, an invibility cloak, a flying broom...). My hardcover copy is even autographed, woo!
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk. The movie got me interested in hunting down the book, and the book dragged me into his writing style. Very bleak and cynical, but despite all the truly fucked up stuff going on, you just can't help but laugh anyway. This is even more true in Choke which is tremendoulsy funny and gross at the same time (not to mention freaking bizzare.)
Programming Perl - It's not often that a book this informative is acutually fun to read. Written by Larry Wall (the guy who made the language). Usually have this one in my backpack.
The Demon-Haunted World by Carl "billions and billions" Sagan. Yes, people are stupid. The book covers this in quite painful detail. Certainly worth the read.
