Random thought - the last entry I typed in was titled "Fear and Loathing in Marquette", and Hunter S. Thompson killed himself on sunday.
Depressing, no matter how you look at it, ironic to a point.

This is, of course, good news - the source code is now a HUGE step closer to being GPL. Angband has long been a bit of a misfit in the open-source world because it was created before the whole free software thing got significant, and it conflicts with the widely-accepted GPL on a few points. Because of this, sourceforge won't host it, and it can't really be put on a linux distro as many other games can. From the chatter in #angband, it sounds like one of the last people to give their consent on this issue is someone who's livelyhood is open source software, so with any luck, once he's contacted, angband will be GPL.
