The other day while my grandma was pinning my bridesmaid's dress, she told me, "It's a shame we couldn't have you down in Nampa this summer. We could have introduced you to a nice young man, helping your grandpa shovel some gravel and do some other work in the yard. He's a smart boy, and grandpa says he's strong as an ox! But he just left for Pittsburgh, to go to medical school." I thought it was kinda funny. Yes, my sister has been married for two days, and my grandparents and relatives already have hopes for me. I don't, at least not now. I haven't even had a date for a year, I realized the other day. A freaking year. How pathetic is that?! But it actually doesn't bother me that much. It was just something I was thinking of the other day.
Something else I was thinking of, last night at the wedding reception while the swing dancing was going on, is that everyone in my immediate family so far has met their future wife/husband through dancing of some sort. My mom and dad met in a dance class in college, Melissa and Bill met a singles' swing dancing lesson, and Angela and Jake met at a swing dance. I pointed this out to Melissa while we were talking, and she suggested going to every dance that I can so that I can meet my husband. Now I feel like I have a family tradition to uphold. :)
It hasn't quite sunk in yet that Angie's gone, that she does not live here anymore. I think it's because I'm so used to her being gone during the day so much lately anyway, that her not being here now feels normal, and I just expect to hear her come in late at night. But she doesn't. Even on her wedding night, I was getting in bed, and I heard a car door shut outside, and my first thought was, "Oh, that must be Angela." But then I thought, "No...duh, Chantelle, she's married now.
I'm glad the wedding's over though. My mom is MUCH more relaxed, relatives will soon be going home, and things will return to normal. And before I know it, Soundsation will be starting...!! Next Thursday, that's in...5 days, holy cow and hooray!
