Dear Sirs:
Am I the only one scratching his head in confusion at the audacity of the Bush administration's request for an additional $70 billion just to pay military operating expenses until September of this year when just yesterday the president was poised to sign the recently passed budget reduction bill, reducing spending on health care and student loans by $39.5 billion?
May I make a suggestion? Restore the entitlement programs to their already pathetic initial funding levels and require the administration to come up with the $70 billion it is requesting through an aggressive campaign to track the billions of dollars that have been lost or mismanaged by Robert J. Stein and others in this debacle of a war.
