Merry Christmas! Yesterday
bellanna and I had a wonderful low key day slobbing about. We exchanged a few gifts, enjoyed a fry up breakfast and, later, a large roast roll of turkey breast with all the trimmings.
We also played a few classic computer games, and we watched
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on video which had us laughing at the characters' antics and the guest stars send ups of themselves. Apparently this was the first (and only?!?) film to get Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher into the same film again since Star Wars, and the two of them didn't know it (very separate scenes) until after filming was finished.
In the evening I watched
Les Triplettes de Belleville (also known as
Belleville Rendezvous in the UK). This very odd animated feature is rich with Gallic charm and tells the story of a grandmother setting forth with their fat old dog Bruno to rescue her cycling grandson from the French Mafioso in New York. Well, I say New York, but it could be any large port city with a small harbour island and a fat lardy Statue of Liberty holding up a big burger. The Mafioso drive around in stretch Citroen 2CVs; all the French men have large noses and drink red wine; and all the Americans are extremely fat. When it comes round again to television I can highly recommend it :-)
Today we walked to the corner shop and bought a newspaper, some eggs and a loaf of bread. The weather was very windy and very slightly damp so we had all our cobwebs blown away, and now we're staying firmly indoors until at least tomorrow afternoon. Where's the snow?
