Uhura hadn’t been surprised when Spock rose early and left. What surprised her was that he’d returned, bearing a tray with bowls, utensils, and a tureen of something that smelled delicious.
“What is it?” she asked, crossing the distance and sitting down.
“Plomeek broth.” Spock replied, ladling soup into their bowls . “A traditional morning meal on Vulcan.”
Uhura took a spoonful and smiled. “I’ve never had Vulcan cuisine before.”
Spock paused, and lifted his eyes to hers. “And I have never cooked for anyone before.” He replied.
Breakfast, Uhura mused, really was the most important meal of the day.
