Oneirica and Worldview

Last night, I had a series of dreams which I shall not take the time to describe completely. However, there were two major scenes. In the first, numerous folks from my childhood church (including my parents) had gotten involved in some wacky cult, but I was obliged to not criticize it because it was very clear that people would be angry if I were to suggest that what they were doing was bogus. In the second major scene of the dream, I was seated in a church where some kind of VBS was happening. There were many people aged 5-20 or so seated about the church, and about a half dozen of them were lined up in the aisle, waiting to go up front to receive an award. There was a speaker in the front of the room who was speaking at length about the evils of everyone in the world who didn't share their exact denomination. At one point, he commented that the people lining up to receive an award would not receive it if they had ever been drunk driving, or used drugs such as "any kind of methyl, or rabbit-oats drugs" - dreamspeak for the way that a fundamentalist might describe narcotics and marijuana, apparently. At any rate, I spotted in the pews numerous people whom I've known via Christian homeschooling circles. I attempted to greet two of them, but they pretended not to know me. My brother appeared next to me at one point, and his attitude toward the VBS event was pleasant face but an apparent interior disagreement.

So to summarize both scenarios (and many more details not included), I found myself in the vicinity of familiar faces and old friends with very strongly held beliefs that I wasn't so certain about, and I faced some level of social difficulty because of it.
