oh, so cute. it's so funny that he's worried about scotty of all people. that's illogical!

Well in TOS Uhura and Scotty were canon for a while, maybe there is that spark of potential in rebootverse too.

But you don't go from Spock to Scotty, lol. He's funny but come on

Plus I hear that movie was really awful.

Least said about some of the movies the best...ANd I agree that Spock would eclipse poor Scotty. However that des not mean Scotty can not appreciate Uhura still.

That was kind of my thought -- even if Scotty and Uhura don't hook up this time around, he'd probably still think she's really attractive.

But I bet a lot of guys think she's attractive; it's just kind of odd that Spock would pick Scotty as the one to worry about.

I dunno, Scott's also very bright, very focussed on things he loves doing, and not to concerned with social niceties if they get in the way of things he cares about. In some ways he's almost an extroverted, demonstrative version of Spock...

See I don't get that at all from the movie. He was essentially the goofy comic relief so to me, imaging Scotty/Uhura is like seeing one of those movies where a really hot girl falls in love with Kevin James.

I actually think Kirk is the extroverted version of Spock. They're both essentially angry rebellious boys- the only difference is one of them just lets it all out in full force and the other bottles it up until he cracks.

Yeah, he's goofy, but look how he ends up in that posting in the first place (I also suspect some of Scotty's goofiness is slightly exaggerated by the effects of almost total isolation. He's forgotten how to interact with someone who isn't Keenser) - he was carrying out brilliant warp experiments without any thought of how the way he went about it would impact on other people's feelings. I can see Kirk using an Admiral's beagle for a prank, but not because you were so desperate to advance the cause of science that you couldn't wait to requisition a box of lab rats. Spock would never do anything so flagrantly in breach of proper procedure, but he'd understand the urge. I'm not sure Kirk would, though he'd be amused...

I thought he was having an argument with an instructor and wanted to prove that he could actually do it? And honestly, I feel like everyone in the movie has a lot of passion for their specialty. It kind of comes with the territory. I really didn't find Scotty to be off in interacting with people- he seems quite easy-going and surely gets along just fine with Kirk right away.

I just really don't see many Spock-Scotty similarities, at least in the reboot. Spock is a complicated character with a lot of shit to deal with, Scotty is amusing but really just there to break the ice with a funny line.
