I love Uhura but this story was so overdue; thanks for writing it! While I like the McCoy & Uhura friendship the flirtation bugged me in that Spock was always expected to accept it because he knew Uhura loved him. Making the Commander a Romulan was brilliant since this made Spock's attraction very realistic. McCoy nailed it when he said Spock felt Uhura's jealousy and was making the offer to fix things between them. This story was a fabulous treat.

Thank you for reading! The Romulan Commander is a real character from TOS: The Enterprise Incident, so credit has to go to D.C. Fontana for that aspect of the story! But, yeah, it wasn't so much as Spock was expected to accept it, because they've had discussions about it before in my fics. Also, Uhura has experienced jealousy regarding women being attracted to him and the fear he could dump her for someone else. But "talking about it" and then seeing it happen is really...yeah...shakes folk up. :)

Did the Commander really kiss Spock in the original series? I agree, talking about something is one thing but having it really happen is something else completely. I haven't read any stories where TOS Uhura has thought Spock could leave her someone else. That was a reason your story was so different for me. Did you write this in one of your earlier stories?

Man, there wasn't a human kiss, but it made me fan myself watching them together! If you look in the header, I have fic orders. I forget which ones, but I think "Discovery", "Claimed" talk about it, as well as "Wayward Plans". If I find more I'll let you know. But yeah, Uhura's human, after all!
