This was a delight from start to finish. You've created a plausible "world" and everyone was in character throughout. I liked the idea of Vulcans "broadcasting" and some folks being more sensitive to this. Also how much of strain it was to Spock with the added problem of cutting him off from Nyota. You handled it very well. I especially liked the part saying some people were irritable or uncomfortable around Vulcans and, having no other way attribute their discomfort decided they didn't like Vulcans. The Shuuvasu Vulcans where a delight. So detailed and you managed to convey so much about them. It was interesting to consider the other way this culture had taken. So many of the things this lovely fic just touches on are worth of a story in its own right. I like Spock's rich enjoyment of the music...Vulcan calling to Vulcan. The idea of the "dance" which was a challenge and a test of the telepathic bond between mates is wonderful, and original. The later aspect made it acceptable to Spock and both appealed to Nyota. The way he responded differently to the Vulcans too is interesting, you note he would have ignored the challenge from any other species. Spock's respect of human "separateness" was spot on. Unfortunately he also made a unilateral decision, not even allowing Nyota to be aware a decision had been made. I can just picture Spock acting like this...acting in good faith without realizing he is also limiting Nyota's ability to choose. I hope her thoughtful and positive reaction show his the error of his ways. Without the dance she may never have released what he had done and both would have missed out on the opportunity to deepen the relationship in a Vulcan way. Off course that is yet another story that needs to be written! The use of Vulcan terms was well handled and heightened the contrast between the cultures. Overall this was a wonderful new years present and I am so grateful that you accepted my rather limited prompt. This is a fic I will re-read many times. Thank you.
