This is Ambassador Spock of the United Federation of Planets, Captain. Requesting permission to come aboard. I understand things have gotten... a little out of hand.
"I understand you're experiencing some..." he arches an eyebrow on an otherwise stoic face, "...complexities on board. Car to explain while we walk?" He gestures to the hangar bay door.
"...To say the least." Kirk leads slowly, matching Spock's pace as they move towards the turbolift. "...There's more then just you now, Spock. There's three of you, right now, on this ship. One of you is in pon farr... I'd say he looks like he's in his mid-thirties. We had a Pike from another universe that Spock called the 'mirror universe' who tried to kill the Spock of THIS universe, we have duplicates of people the same age, a kid from the 21st century, and the ship keeps getting out of disrepair over and over. Oh, and we have Ambassador Sarek, two people back from the dead, my father and Spock's mother, and someone from the future. Even future to you."
Spock walks with the slowness of the well-aged. "Pon-farr, the dead live, futures, presents, and alternate pasts collide. So, what you're saying is that the situation on board is essentially... the everlasting status quo of all ships bearing the name Enterprise?"
"...Mmm, basically, yes. There's at least four versions represented here. This one, the slightly older Spock's, yours, and the one from the mirror universe."
He lets out a breath, feeling too keyed up right now. The idea of sitting down is both heaven and hell.
"Such is the duty, and the curse, of all who captain this ship. My advice to you is this: remember that your first duty is to this ship, and to its crew. Do what you must to ensure the proper operation of the ship, and let the rest play out to its logical conclusion."
Spock pauses and scrutinizes Kirk. "You appear as though you need rest, Captain. A well-rested mine is in the best position to make logical decisions. You need rest."
Kirk looked to the side, to the elderly Vulcan beside him, and smiled. Logical, of course. "There's no rest for the weary." He quoted. "I'm needed everywhere at once, and there's only one of me available. Above all, I'm trying to make sure this ship and crew remain safe. We're even trying to do something about fixing the transporter to send the bastard Pike home."
"Without a good crew, even the best captain cannot run his entire starship. You must trust those you have delegated to to do their jobs. Are you, yourself, fixing the transporter? No, Mr. Scott is. Everyone on this ship serves a purpose, Captain. Your purpose is to effectively direct the actions of your crew to the benefit of the ship. Let your second officer take command while you find some rest. Maybe try meditation?" Spock's lips quirk ever so slightly at what might almost be a joke
( ... )
Considering what Kirk has seen in the last day, the quote makes him choke for a moment. His head jerks up to stare at the Vulcan, unable to believe he said that. The fish-gape expression happens for a moment before saying, "R-Right. Good night, Spock."
A pause, then, "Don't hesitate to call if you need anything at all."

Spock enters his stateroom and the door shushes closed behind him, leaving a bewildered and bemused Kirk in the corridor.
