[found] J2 - one is a dragon (obscure fic)
This is a pretty long shot, but maybe someone remembers this fic. (I looked through dozens of rec lists and couldnt find it.)
J1 travels to some remote village (via train iirc) to study their customs or something alike. Iirc he had old journals or maps were he learned about them.
We spend time getting to know the villagers and their customs. One such custom is making sacrifices to a mountain and/or dragon. A young girl gets chosen, dressed up and left alone outside for the dragon.
Eventually J1 gets up his courage and goes up the mountain himself.
There's a surprise twist, J2 (in human form) has been appearing in the story several times already. Like, on the train ride or station and in the village, J1 had figured him as a villager but he was actually the dragon.
The story goes on longer but this is all I remember of it. Im pretty sure Jensen is the dragon and theres a twist that J1 actually meets J2 several times throughout the story (I have a vivid memory of them meeting on the train or station) and J1 thinking that J2 is just another villager.
I recall art in sepia tones and I think it was part of a BigBang.
