FOUND! This is What Will Be, Link in comments! J2 AU, Jensen is fae, living, working in human world
Hi! I read this a few times, but have forgotten the author and title. The story starts with Jensen getting hurt helping to contain a dragon that is rampaging in a human town. He works for an interspecies agency, and humans only became aware of the fae realm recently. He wears a little bottle filled with ashes from Danneel, who was also fae. He works with Chris, a human, at first, I think, but gets reassigned. His boss kinda thinks he's got a death wish.
He gets assigned to work with Jared, who is a human and fascinated by Jensen and all things magical.
They solve a case where a human is capturing and selling pixies (I think) illegally.
The officers from the agency use fairy rings to travel from place to place. Jensen has wings and can fly.
Jensen doesn't want to go back to the fae realm because of a horrible experience he had there, but to solve a case he goes back with Jared, Jensen, and several others. Jensen is captured by the Hunt. I can't remember anything beyond that?
