Specific Gen Fic, Sam and Dean Have Visible Soul/Bond Ties
Hey guys! This is my first post, so apologies if formatting is strange.
So I was rereading a fic, only for it to not encompass the whole story I remember. At first I assumed there was a sequel, but I couldn't find that so now I'm wondering if it was a companion fic written by another author or even an entirely separate fic with a similar concept. Whatever it is, I haven't been able to find it and I'm starting to question my sanity a bit, haha, so I figured I'd pop in here and check if any of y'all know the fic I'm talking about!
The original fic is "Together We'll Break These Chains of Love" by fogsrollingin.
To give a quick summary of that fic, Dean and Sam using their brotherly bond for a spell/ceremony to break this curse thing that's killing couples. Their bond physically manifests as ties wrapped around them and they have to keep contact with each other as their bond gets attacked by the curse-bond-thing. Lots of fluff and humor around the whole "no chick flick" front the boys have that transitions to strong h/c and protectiveness. I'm really not explaining this well, but hopefully that's enough to jog anyone's memory for those who've read it.
So, that's the fic I read (and is really good btw), but it resolved the soul/bond ties, which is contrary to my memory, so I might be looking for an inspired-by-it fic or even an entirely unrelated fic.
What I remember of the fic:
-Gen, though pretty close, maybe queerplatonic, in the way presented. Definitely no kissing or indisputable slash though.
-Rating was very likely T or under.
-Probably on ao3 or ff.net, but possibly livejournal. Low chance or tumblr (as I think the fic was somewhere in the 4k-20k range, though that's a really really rough estimate).
-The boy's have a soul bond/ties that visually manifests (though it might just be them who can see it)
-At first they weren't happy about it, but I think it grew on them?
-Pretty sure they were able to use their bond to help strengthen spells or something
-They might even just straight up have powers now? Though it might be subtler powers like getting stronger or faster.
-They needed physical contact to do so, and ended up getting may more used to casual contact a lot
-Pretty sure it was hurt!Sam, but there was definitely worried/protective Dean
-My strongest memory is that, after the boys had gotten used to the ties, they went on a hunt with other people (hunters?).
-During the hunt, Sam and Dean get separated (I'm pretty sure Sam is dragged off or taken by the creature or something) and Dean used the ties to find him.
-I think the ties led him to a hole in the ground and when he goes to enter, the other people say it's too dangerous and Dean replies something like "it's my brother" and goes in anyway.
-Getting more fuzzy here, but I think Sam was the one who did most of the spells while Dean used contact/their bond to help bolster him.
-Pretty sure Cas was either not present or barely mentioned, and they weren't at the bunker so probably in early seasons (best guess seasons 1-3).
Any help is greatly appreciated! Also if you have any less-known gen hurt!Sam fics/authors that you'd recommend, I'd love to hear those too! I'm starting to run out of new material, haha.
