Lost Fic: Specific Post-Apocalypse, Canon-Divergent
I read this fanfic about 4 years ago and I can't recall the name. It features a Sam who saves the world with great cost to himself with greater ramifications and a much higher death toll than what occurred in season 5.
I remember some details. Do these ring a bell to anyone?:
- I think that Sam saved the world other than what is shown in Swan Song.
- The world post-Apocalypse has changed. The moon vanished/disappeared. The tides are forever lower than before. Oceans are smaller.
- The world population has been significantly lessened. Technology has degraded by quite a bit. Cities don't really exist in the way they did before. There are settlements and small towns. Knowledge of the supernatural is mainstream now.
- Whatever Sam did to save the world left him mentally ill, severely depressed, or incapacitated in some way.
- They stop hunting.
- Dean takes them to a town where he works a construction(?) type of job and gets a small house for them to live in. Uses whatever money he earns to take care of Sam.
- One day Sam, who has been indoors for a long time, decides to walk to Dean's work during his shift. He gets picked up on the road by one of Deans co-workers who drives him the rest of the way there.
- Once they get there, all of Dean's coworkers are surprised. Dean spoke about his brother Sam to them, but because they'd never actually met him, they assumed that Sam must be dead and that Dean was mentally scarred/deluded from events that occurred during the Apocalypse like so many others.
- It could have been either a gen-fic or Wincest. Can't remember which one.
Any help finding this will be much appreciated.
