Interestering question, I'm not sure these fit for you, but these are what I thought of:

1. Stories by candle_beck, especially Impossible To Tell

2. Atonement and most other stories by ameliacareful.

3. Once dwelt in that annihilated place and others by StripySock

I don't know how they do it, I feel like some authors just nail the bond in a few sentences.

Also I just re-read Over the Mountains of the Moon by MisplacedLonelyHeartsAd, it's in a similar vein.

I'm not even primarily a Sam/Dean shipper, but I love it when it's well done, and I especially love Gen stories focussed on their bond, so I hope someone else will post recs. It's definitely something I can't read enough of.

My favorite kind of stories are the ones you are searching for!

- Secure the Blessing by Rahmi: Time travel/do over fic. Sam makes a wish. Dean is not pleased. (Gen)
- Sammyverse/Caribouverse by shangrilada: Next to the Fusion verse that someone already rec'ed, this is my favorite verse. Basically, Sam has really hideous asthma, and the boys are both pretty excellent at dealing with it and each other. Honestly it's a lot of H/C porn of the boys just being friendly and affectionate towards each other, because that's how I like them. (Gen)
- Take a long line by derry667: Nice Outsider POV on the boys bond! Winchester isn't stupid. Dangerous, unpredictable and often reckless. But definitely not stupid. So there has to be a good reason that, knowing full well that he's on the FBI's radar, Dean Winchester brazenly walked into the Federal Building on Wilshire Boulevard to collect a passport under the pseudonym of Ronald Belford Scott.
