FOUND see Comments -specific fic w/ underage Sam and Dean - haunted house?
This is the most vague request I've ever made - but I have faith in this community's power of detection!
WHAT I KNOW:
Sam and Dean were underage - Sam in his early teens, Dean older.
They were on a case with John, and they stop for the night at an old, abandoned house.
The whole story is COLD - snow everywhere, and a massive snowstorm as they settle in.
A ring of old, strange trees stands in a circle around the house. These are significant to the story, but I can't remember why.
During or after the storm, Dean stepped outside to find Sam hanging in one of these trees. (Not by the neck - but as though he were possessed, maybe by the thing in the house.)
WHAT I THINK I MIGHT KNOW, BUT WOULDN'T SWEAR TO IN COURT:
No sexual contact or innuendo between the boys - may have been subtext.
John may have dumped them at the house and left. He was not part of the central story.
Sam was pissed off at John for (pick a reason).
Sam may have decided he was going to sleep on the porch, just to be a pain in the ass.
The house was haunted, but I can't remember by what. I don't think the boys knew, and it may not have been revealed in the end.
Were there clothes hanging in the weird trees? A shirt of Sam's or Dean's?
The writing style was impressionistic - not trying to resolve the mystery, just trying to create a mood (terrifying).
Guys, that's all I can remember. The story wasn't long, but it was spooky as hell. If you could point me in the right direction, I would *so* appreciate it.
