dean not fit as men of letter

I just rewatched 8.12 and now I am wondering if anyone can recommend or point me towards any fic where John was raised as a men of letters? where the boys were too and Dean just doesn't feel like he fits in? where he struggles to please everyone or he actually leaves to put the knowledge he has to use?

I don't want him made out to be dumb (he can feel like it) but more where he just doesn't feel like it's him.

Gen, het or slash is fine but just no dean/sam or sam/angel
