So, uh, hello! I’m Hans, a.k.a. hansbekhart, and oxoniensis invited me to be this month’s Ask The Author. After a whole lot of stammering and blushing and trying not to be embarrassing about it, I said I’d love to

Do you see yourself writing SPNfic through the end of the series? Longer? Do you think you'll get bored and move on to a shiny new fandom?
(I think I told you once that the "...baby Daddy" fic has its own tag in my memories. It is the only fic that has its own category. Hee. If that doesn't say enough about it, I don't know what could! )

I doubt that I'll get bored and move on to a shiny new fandom, but I do worry sometimes about real life taking over the time that I've spent the last few years writing and participating in fandom. But I think that as long as I need or want to be here, I will be here, and I think that Supernatural is by far the best fandom I have ever participated in. Even if I do someday leave fandom, I don't think I'll ever leave the friends I made there. (Okay, I doubt you were looking for such a sappy answer, but, you know.)
I can't find the category. >.<;;; What is it? If you say "pee!fic" I'll smack you.

You dangle a clue like that in front of my face, I'm not supposed to go look? Actually, I'd remembered you telling me that before, but I couldn't remember what the tag was.
It is hard to maintain interest during such a long hiatus, but since my last couple projects have all been long-ish stories that work pretty independently from canon, and I tend not to read fanfic when I'm working on stuff like that, I'm not as closely tied to actually watching the show as other people are, I guess. I can imagine getting frustrated towards the end of the series, as the potentials narrow, if that makes sense - that was what sucked so completely about the last few Harry Potter books (well, one thing among many that sucked) - was all that beautiful potential that I saw in the first couple books was slowly but surely choked off.
Your writing's got a really lyrical, poetic quality to it, which I really really fangirl by the way, so I was wondering: are you a keen poetry reader? Or do you stick more to novels?
I love poetry. In so many forms. I like things that have to be read out loud to be really appreciated. I think my favorites have to be John Donne and Charles Bukowski, which I guess covers most of the spectrum! I hugely geek out over Shakespeare, particularly Richard III.
I think, though, I always look at poetry as an outsider - what I really enjoy about it is almost more about the way that it sounds. I have a difficult time identifying with poetry as a reader, taking the message inside of myself or linking it to my own feelings, because I feel supremely uncomfortable with ... letting the mask slip, if that makes sense. It's too honest a voice for me to every appropriate myself, which is why I'm far more comfortable writing fiction. I think I had to write, like, three poems in college and seriously resented having to do each one. It was too personal!

Well, right now they are orange gingham boy shorts, with orange lace trim. I'm so glad I had a good pair on to describe!

Oh you wanted serious questions..... would you say the settings/landscape plays a character role in your fan fiction?

But it's tagged "The Baby Daddy Fic".
Hee.
I feel the same way (about the fandom). But I know some people lose interest after a while, or if it isn't a "live" fandom.
And I'm always up for sap! :)
