Hello artists!

The Hellatus is over, it's time to go back to business for all you.

1) Sign-ups

Don't forget to check out the sign-up posts of  the angelic_bigbang (Sign-ups HERE, end: February 1st), the spnslashbigbang (Sign-ups HERE, end: February 11th),  the john_w_bigbang (Sign-ups HERE, no information on the end of the sign-ups but the summary claim is on February 18th), the recast_bb (Sign-ups HERE, end: February 21st), the gabriel_bigbang (Sign-ups HERE, end: March 1st), the history_bigbang (Sign-ups HERE, end: March 1st), the genteensybang (Sign-ups starts February 2nd, end: March 8th), the casestory (sign-ups HERE, end May 1st), th superwho_bang (Sign-ups HERE, no information on the end of the sign-ups but the summary claim is on June 1st) and last but not least, the spn_j2_bigbang (sign-ups HERE, no information on the end of the sign-ups but the summary claim is on May 4th).

2) The Little Big Art Gallery

Tons of beautiful art to enjoy this month like this portrait of Dean by Bran1313, this sad yet beautiful Pieta in the Impala art by Karmabees, this mysterious and creepy Purgatory art by Qwertyprophecy, this Team Purgatory art by Eldritch-elegy, this art full of details of Dean and Cas' last Christmas by Tsuminubiaru, this beautiful art of Sam rescuing Dean from a lake by Quickreaver, and finally this watercolor of Castiel crying blood (again by Quickreaver).

Talking about watercolor, if your children aren't near you, it's time to have a look at this Jensen/Danneel NSFW art about pegging by I-have-a-hunger (and if you don't know what pegging is, it's never too late to discover new things!
). Still for the amateurs of NSFW art, this Sam/Dean arwork by Badbastion may interest you. (Talking about Badbastion, she was in the community's Ask The Artist this month and talks in detail about her drawing technique)

To finish on a light note, here are some cute comics for you. People who think that Castiel doesn't know anything about seduction are wrong because as you can see in this comic, he learned a lot of things from Tumblr. Also worth checking out i this short comic about Dean and Cas' trenchcoat (from the same author) but also this one showing the Winchesters at their best, and this super cute Dean/Castiel one about a stalking angel.

3) Tutorials and resources corner

Tons of great tutorials this month and some of them should be perfect to help you solve all the problems related to your Supernatural fan arts.

First, a great news for all the people who can't afford a good art program. Photoshop CS2 and the whole CS2 suite is now available for free at the Adobe website. All you've got to do is signing up. More about this great opportunity HERE.

Saying that the LARPing episode inspired the fandom is an understatement (we'll see that in detail next month). In the meantime, if you are tempted to draw Sam, Dean, Cas, whoever in medieval costumes, here are some tutorials that can be very useful.
- Hoods (perfect for: medieval capes, but also for contemporary hoods if you prefer)
- Armors, here, here and here (perfect: if you think that the Winchesters looked good in leather but will look even better in medieval armors)
- Chainmail, here and here (perfect for: Dean's outfit, particularly his collar and shoulders)
- Leather, here and here (perfect for: Sam and Dean's outfits...or BDSM art, if you are in the mood). Note: you have to download the tutorial on the right of the page for the second link.
- Fabric folds (Perfect for: Sam's cape)
- Caravaggio lighting (perfect for: any medieval scene lit with candles)

A last tutorial before leaving, and this one will make all the angel fans happy. Here is a very detailed tutorial about drawing angel wings.

Finally, this round-up wouldn't be complete without some reference pictures for your art. If you are looking for great backgrounds, take a few minutes to check the LJ community called abandonedplaces. It's full of very inspirational photos such as abandoned graveyards, hospitals, roads, that can be useful if you are working on an artwork where the boys are on a hunt.

I hope you enjoyed this round-up! See you next month.

As usual a big thank you to lazy_daze for the English beta.
