Hello! I'm secretlytodream also known as Loki and the rest of the world knows me as Maria and I’m thrilled to be the guest vidder this month. I'd like to thank oxoniensis for inviting me and giving me such an amazing opportunity

Then I guess I have to come up with a real question. Um. How different/challenging do you find working with external footage (cons and interviews and such) vs. show footage ripped from DVD?
I just wanted to tell you that I really like your vids.
And I'm very grateful that you always provide links to DL them, because there's nothing as frustrating as reading enthusiastic comments or recs for a post when one can't access the media due to copyright issues.
Joining the choir here to say that your SPN vids are amazing, and that I appreciate DL links so I know I can have them for posterity :) One of the things that sometimes distracts me from staying "in" a vid (any vid, not necessarily your vids) is if the clip used has an image of the character talking (but the audio is music, not speech). It seems like it would be quite a challenge to find so many sustained images of characters/people *not* talking, though. Do you make a conscious choice about whether or not to limit clips to non-dialogue segments sometimes?
Good question! :D I call them "talking heads". And I hate them. Um... It's the short answer lol I always try to cut the talking heads out of my videos, even though sometimes there are just the right clips, you know? And the character is talking! It annoys the hell out of me, but I can't do anything but leave it, because I really don't like talking heads in my videos or any other videos at all. I mean, it distracts you from the song, music, plot, everything. Plus, it doesn't look ecstatic or whatever. There are a few ways of avoiding those "heads", like, slowing down clips (if a particular scene or a close up is just the right one for you video, otherwise I would suggest trying to find the replacement), or to use extreme close ups, like, focus on the eyes, for example. I used such trick in a couple of my videos. For example, in my From the deepest of red... video, there's a scene when Sam looks up, it's a very close close up of his face - eyes - and you can see that the muscles on his face are moving, that he's
