Hello! Thank you so much to oxoniensis for inviting me to host this round of Ask the Artist. I do hope I can step up to the challenge! I've written up a bit about myself and my drawing process to start us off :)
I am also a slow and lazy artist. I overcome this by signing up for challenges with authors who I don't want to risk disappointing. YES, GUILT IS AN EXCELLENT MOTIVATOR!
I never really tried to draw the likenesses of real people until I began drawing for the Supernatural fandom, so it's been a real learning experience for me! I am really proud of you for continuing to challenge yourself and wanting to grow as an artist by using more references, not always relying on textures, and paying more attention to likenesses.
And yeah, there is a question in here somewhere... Oh yes, are you happy with your decision not to pursue an art degree? And if you had a chance to do it all over again, would you have picked the same major that you did?
Are you kidding?? You're one of the most prolific artists I know! /o\ And I totally agree with you on signing up for challenges! Guilt is the best motivator, lol XD But collaborating with someone is also so much fun :3
( ... )
Yes, an art career is not glamorous and so many insanely talented people never make it. Like you, I knew I didn't have the drive necessary to be successful, which is why I decided to get an art and media degree from a liberal arts college instead of an art school. That way, I'd still have options.
I'm glad you're satisfied with your decision. Plus, it's never too late to explore other things now that you're out of school. YOU'RE STILL SO YOUNG!
Lol unrelated but I just now realized that two of my selected works were for you XDDDD PEOPLE ARE GONNA THINK YOU OWN ME OR SOMETHING and they'd be right
