Aw, well thanks so much Nicky! I really appreciate that :)

Hmm. I actually think my favorite vid of mine is Tower Over Me, my AU Sam/Duck (BSG) vid. I don't know if it was just a lucky break or what, but I really feel like all of the different elements of the vid work really well together. I think the song had a great tone for the story I wanted to tell with those two. I think the coloring and the textures I used gave it a nice gritty look and feel without going overboard. And I was really quite proud of myself for managing to create a vid with a storyline and relationship that felt believable for two characters who were only in like one scene together lol.

Oooh these are both though questions haha. Um I think my main influence is definitely other vidders. Pretty much everything useful that I learned about vidding I've learned from other vidders. I'm actually kind of paranoid though when it comes to using other vidders' work as inspiration for editing techniques and stuff. I'm always afraid that if I do anything that's too similar to someone's that I'll be shunned whether it was intentional or not lol. So while I do think other vidders are my main influence, I definitely try and give it my own spin as much as possible. Plus, what would be the fun otherwise right? :) As far as professional stuff goes, I don't really even watch music videos at all. There are some instances where movies/TV will give me an idea for something. For example, I always love to see how different shows do flashbacks and montages and things like that. Flashbacks always seem like the ideal scenes for editors to go crazy lol. But yeah, overall I'd say that other vidders influence me most of all :)

I loved Tower of Me! I knew it was you as soon as I saw it on the Bascon DVD, even though your credits didn't come up until the end. :D I agree that it worked incredibly well despite the lack of actual footage of the two of them together. In fact, I think that was the first vid of yours that really made me sit up and go WOW. I love that you could create such an honest-feeling AU out of, well, hardly anything. That understanding of how and why a 'ship works is so important to creating shipper vids and you seem to grasp that so instinctively. :)

*nods* Perfectly understandable. At the same time I guess all of us are always building on each other's work in some way, and vidding would be in a very different place now if all of us were just vidding in each of our little bubbles and never putting to practice some of the things we learned from each other.

That's a great example! It seems like one place where the editors really feel like they have room to flex some additional creative muscle.

I KNOW it's "Tower Over Me" but my fingers got away from me. Sorry!
