... Wow. *is stunned* This is excellent - I loved the Wild Hunt section and the use of the old king/new king myths to affirm their bond, and Dean's desperate speech at the end. And it's very hot *g*. I enjoyed the refreshing take on remixing.

Thank you. It was MAYGRA, so obviously I needed to do a bang-up job. Or try, anyway. :)

Wow. I was waiting to let maygra reply to this first, but it doesn't seem RIGHT that this fic should go un-commented on... Holy crap. This was AWESOME. Such an amazing way of remixing it - both the original story, and Maygra's body of work and themes she consistently addresses as well. I went to re-read the original before I read this so I could make sense of it, and just... It so went above and beyond what I'd normally assume of a remix.

BRAVO, ANONYMOUSE!

Thank you darlin'! I was totally petrified when I got assigned maygra, can I tell you? And I totally stalked her at Writercon (not that I wasn't going to do that anyway). But the point was, for Maygra I had to do something superlative or die trying. Hee.

I'm amazingly, incredibly stunned and pleased. I want to say that first. This is insanely fantastic. Thank you.

And I'm sorry for not commenting when it was posted. I turned mine in way early and the first of the month is kind of hell at work and I totally forgot about the whole thing. But having come out of hell week to this...I'm feeling completely rewarded and compensated.

I love all of them. Deliberately or not you managed to capture a ton of themes that I adore, everything from the realm of the fae to the whole intervention of the heavenly host and I'm utterly and totally in love with each and ever segment and how they bleed into each other. and rape too! And Constantine! HEE!The framing of the elements is perfect and lovely, as are the elements being engines of change -- textual alchemy ( ... )

You disallowed comments on the first part, Cathy? Whatever, it wouldn't let me comment.

Mostly he's stopped counting the times he's picked himself up and gone on from the broken eggshell of a past life. He manipulates his façade through hundreds of names and cities and holds secret the fragile pilot light at his core

Oh, so nice. Such lovely language.

But if they were, those pieces, they had to have been like that universe-in-waiting, tiny as dust particles and easily overlooked, because Dean never saw them, even though they seem so obvious now.

Dean making science metaphors? You have stolen a whole plot from me! I love you.

Not that it had looked like any of the pictures from those books. It was tabbied in the different colors of sand and earth, sort of like a gecko and bristled with curving spikes that looked oddly delicate at this distance but Dean bets they'd go through a man like a needle. It moved like a lizard too, quick, mincing steps on flexible black toes. Every few yards, it would stop, kind of shudder like it was ( ... )
