“Hey!” Jensen was about to say *how are you*but Amell was obviously living on the streets. The awkward silence that fell was broken by the voice of an old Man.
“YOU hobo!!” shouted pointing a finger to them “beat it.” The older man showed him a baton.
“I should leave, he means it, he’d beat me before…” Jensen noticed the man mumbling *first a fucking rotten perverting a kid and now that bum.* So Jensen got up and walked away with Stephen.
“What an ass.” Jensen commented.
“Yeah, Mark Pellegrino Sr. is a mean bastard…” The man chuckled. “Just like his son.” Jensen was surprised. “You didn’t know? He’s Mark’s father.”
Jensen raised his eyebrows. “At least they’re not as bad as Anders used to be… Just as mean as Sheppard, he’s the worst when his men find me around.”
“What happened to you?” the man was twitching, and Jensen had his answer. He was using.
“Nothing.” He rubbed his face. “I just think all Marks are dicks, maybe is a law or something, but I can take it, I deserve it.”
“Nobody deserves that.”
“I do…”
“Why?” Jensen saw how the eyes filled with tears.
“Because, I should be called Mark.” He joked. “I haven’t seen you until today. I wanted to say I’m sorry.” He mumbled before he left.

Jared left a Wednesday, and all the time he spent on the plane he thought about one thing. Why he didn’t cleared things with Jensen?
He settled in an off campus apartment and looked for a job, with his experience he found one quite easily, he was in charge of a bookstore. His days were empty and his nights were filled studying and doing homework.
He met a couple friends but never really wanted to be close to anyone, he felt lost and alone. And once more out of place.
But that was the strange part. He always felt out of place, except for few months. He felt as if left behind his entire life. The only one time in his life he felt like this was when Zachary left.
“We’ll met in college in a year, Jay.” he pressed as he helped Jared fill applications. Stanford, he was going to Stanford and Jared will go to. “I love you and I’m not gonna let you behind.”
Jared kissed his boyfriend and cried the entire night because he finally had a family on his own. That’s why it hurt so much, just when he was about to graduate and just had his acceptance letter.
“What you mean you’re going home?” Zach asked while Jared was packing. They spent two summers together already.
“It’s complicated…”
“Is this about your brother again?” Jared looked at Zach hurt. “Oh no, don’t give me that look, when are you going to let it go?”
“Man, he was my brother! And he was killed. Wouldn’t you want to know why?”
“Jared.” He got close and had his hands in his shoulders. “Sweetheart, I love you, I do, but you have to let it go, your family deserted you, why you insist in doing this to yourself?”
“It’ll be only a couple months.”
“Months? You do realize I’m going back to school in like three weeks right? And that you’re supposed to go with me?”
“Zach, it’ll be just for one term, I can get there for winter.”
It didn’t end well, it didn’t.
Jared went home for a couple weeks, and his parent only offered money and couldn't wait for him to leave. He tried calling Zach but never had he answered his calls.
By the time he moved on and left for college he found Zach with a girl all over him.
“You had your chance, you took your decision is not my fault.”
Now, sitting in the empty room filled with memories and regrets he understood Jensen, the only person he felt normal with. Maybe death wasn’t that bad.

Jensen tried to find Stephen again, but he was nowhere to be found.
“That boy is nothing but trouble.” his father Sentenced. “It’ll be a thousand times better if he weren’t here at all.” And he refused
to say anything else.
“He’s the one Misha Collins let go.” Osric’s mom said. “rumors said he killed Jeff Padalecki in front of him, but when was about time to kill Amell he just told him it’ll all be on his conscience and killed himself.” Then Mrs. Chao told him the kind of places Stephen used to be around.

He was cornered by a couple girls and a bunch of guys either offering or asking for sex and he felt nauseous. That’s when he sat on a grimy bar looking around. some girls pointed him there, and asked if he was buying and if he wanted to share.
Jensen didn’t even asked what they were talking about.
“The word on streets says you’re looking for Amell.” A dark skinned man sat in front of him. “Name’s Gordon.” He just offered a weak nod. “And Stephen, good old Stephen works for me.”
“I’m Jensen Ackles.” He was revealing his condition by giving his name, just in case his clear dead-ish pupils were not enough. “And my business with Stephen is my business only.” Only then he inched forward leaving his too pale skin and pupils exposed to the entire room. Gordon was up in one second and backing away screaming there was a rotten in their place.
“Calm Down… ” Jensen had changed. The once bitter kid became a powerful monster; he had embraced his new situation and took advantage of it. He still didn’t feel pain. He still didn’t had a beating heart. He still was dominated for the less evolved part of his brain. “I just need Stephen and then I’ll leave you all alone.”
He heard tumbles and screeching chairs and people gasping and cursing. Many of the men in this bar were new, and they thought that the reason for Jensen to be left alone was that he was a especially violent Rotten.
It was a thing of magic, in three second Stephen Amell was produced from somewhere around the back entrance and sat in front of Jensen.
“Hello again Stephen…” Jensen smiled. He was still the goofy boy Misha loved. At least he wanted to believe so even if the look of sheer terror on the face of everyone in the room said differently.
“I need you to leave me alone.” Amell showed him a knife.
“Have you ever seen what happens before a rotten dies?” Everyone had seen it, most rottens fought, as a cornered animal and even if they had to die they took as many as possible with them “And I need you to tell me everything you know about my death.” Jensen reached for the knife and didn’t felt the sting of the sharp steel entering his skin. “Everything.” He repeated while throwing the weapon away. “now sit, and start talking.”
Stephen smiled but the smile only lasted a couple seconds. “I’ll tell you but I can’t unless I’m at least half drunk.”
Jensen ordered a bottle of bourbon and Stephen drank at least three glasses before starting talking.
“Jeff Padalecki was jealous of you. He didn’t hate you, he…. ”
“Oh Yeah, jealous, that’s why he bullied me every fucking day of…”
Stephen made movement with his hand. “He was jealous. he used to say that if it were his baby brother he’d do the same. that you had so many chances of a better life and you were wasting all of them for a grunt like Misha Collins.” Jensen made a sound that had Stephen at the edge of his chair. “Sorry but he said that every time.”
Stephen looked away for a couple minutes. “He wanted to wear you out and make you leave… but you’re a stubborn son of a bitch.” Stephen took the bottle and gulped from it without even flinching at the burning. “I remember you going around with Olsson, people said he was gay, everybody said that. It was like the worst hidden secret in this fucking town’s history…” Jensen gasped. Ty wasn’t gay, he couldn’t be. “He spent two thirds of his life minding his own business just like the rest of us, until Sheriff Anders found him making out with Misha Collins at the gas station. That was like a month after your brother left.”
“As far as I know things went down between them when you appeared in the picture, I heard around that Josh wanted you to be with Ty.”
Jared snorted and blinked. “I’ve never heard a bigger stupidity.”
“Well… was your brother’s stupidity.” Amell took another swing of the bourbon. “And then Ty got attacked, that’s another big not secret, and Misha just changed goals. But you had to go around making out in public, you fags…” Amell’s eyes watered a little this time. “I can’t stay here… I can’t.” he got up carrying his bottle and left.

It was almost the end of summer when he found him again, right two days before Osric arrived from partially deceased reinsertion camp. He found Amell on an alley where another bum told him he was waiting.
“There you are…” Jensen got close and Stephen broke in tears.
“Why you do this? Why you won’t leave me alone?”
“Because I’m about to leave town and I need to know.”
“The day we found Misha outside Pellegrino’s Jeff didn’t expected you to be inside.” Jensen chuckled remembering the day. So much pain started for one fucking ice cream cone.
“He told him to let you go, told him you had a future and he shouldn’t pull you back.”
“Padalecki had no right to tell Misha what to do or to have an opinion on my life.” Jensen Stated angrily.
“Collins told him that he should come out of the closet and even if he did so he’d never had a chance with you.” And Stephen chuckled. “Thinking back to that day? We just had some pot, we weren’t really thinking, I wasn’t really thinking and so much happened because of that simple conversation.”
“Jeff went to the hospital after you broke his fingers, he made us lie, Tahmoh and I. We all said a colt broke his fingers. By the time I drove him home we were all regretful of the fight.”
“The next day he was different, he said his baby brother told him something that had him drinking that afternoon, I had to take his car keys and his phone from Sam Ferris. He was hammered, he couldn’t drive.” And Stephen sobbed. “I just wanted to help. I just wanted to…” another sob left his mouth. “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry…”
Jensen felt the same painful stab on his chest, something loud and heavy on his ears, his entire body went numb and he couldn’t breathe for the pressure. “It was you? If Jeff didn’t had his phone-” and his mouth fell open, his legs went wobbly and he fell on the floor, his face inches away from the floor because his hands weren’t obeying. “It was you…” he wanted to get angry, but the feeling of abandonment filled him faster. “It was you there.”
“I told you the first time, Jensen, I should be called Mark. I told you I deserve everything that happens to me.”
“Why?” Jensen asked incoherently.
“He was after me, I knew it, word on the streets said he was gay, and a sadist bastard. I was afraid, if he had you, if he had someone else, I’ll be safe. Besides I thought you’d leave, and Jeff would be finally at peace, and the whole town would be thankful, once in my life I wouldn’t have to be behind the fucking perfection of Jensen Ackles and his tragic story.” And Stephen moved his hands from his lap to show a bloody gash on his abdomen.
“Jeff came couple days later telling us, he said- he said Jared told him he was gay and-” Stephen sighed. “He said: brother we’re wrong, we did all this and it’s wrong, Jensen doesn’t deserve this, I’m not gonna let my baby brother go through the same.”
“And, and I told him, what I did, what Anders did to you.” Stephen sobbed. “He was so angry.” Jensen was fighting to breath, fighting to keep conscious, this was too much, too painful. “He forced me to give the phone to the police, but I was too much of a coward.”
“We went looking for you, to help. I swear… he wanted to help.” Jensen moved his head trying to make him stop, but he couldn’t produce a sound. “We found you hanging off on that tree while we were going to Krushnick’s farm to talk to you.” Jensen tried to move away once more, but he only felt the same pain again, this time his stomach knotted and he felt like throwing up.
“Jeff told Misha what happened, he told him, and said he was sorry. But it was too late.” Stephen looked at his wound and then to Jensen. “Jeff asked him to let the rest of us leave. He begged for the rest of us, even for me… even for the one that ruined everything.”
“Enough…” Jensen fought to move, wanting nothing more than to go away. “Stop, please.”
“I was there when he was shot, I was there, he said, he asked me to let it rest, when Misha killed himself… when it happened it was my obligation to put all this to rest…”

Jared entered the class room and sat near the back, he didn’t have friends and didn’t care for them either, same at work, he felt like he didn’t belong there. He never belonged anywhere since he was 16.
“Welcome to Creative Writing 301, I’m Mrs. Smith.” The lady in front of the class, tall and lean moved to close the door. “I’m gonna be your teacher this semester and you’re gonna understand the process of writing does not come from your brain but from your heart and your very soul as long as you have the tools to understand those voices. And no, mental health issues however unavoidable are not a requirement for this class” people chuckled. “Everyone here had to go through at least two workshops and two classes about writing before joining this class.” She moved to the desk in front of them. “And yet you have no idea of what this semester will carry.” She took a blank page and passed it to the first desk for the students to add their names. “Rules! The basic rule, your desk right now is your desk for the entire semester, remember that. Rule number one; You’ll have homework every class, number two; You will present your homework in white official paper, times new roman font, size 11, 1.5 lines, number three; There’s no excuse to…” the door opened and a tall guy was standing there. “Yes?” Mrs. Smith asked.
“Uh... I’m looking for…” the guy checked the paper in his hand. “Mrs. Smith’s class? Creative Writing 301?”
“Right place, wrong time…” and smiling pointed to the one desk empty at the back. “Guess you’re the last one joining, I heard about you Mr. Ackles.”
Jared jerked on his desk and the whole room heard the screech of his chair.
“Please take your sit and for the rest, that’s the next rule... rule number three; there’s no excuse to be late, EVER! Rule four; this room is to be quiet while we’re working, understood Mr…?” and her eyes fixed on Jared.
“Padalecki, yeah, I’m sorry.”
“That’s okay… now, rule five; This place is for you to learn, so cell phones off, and real life drama stays out too, is that clear?” many nodded and the entire room filled with the rusting of people turning phones off. “By the end of the semester you’ll have to present me with a 20 chapter’s novel about anything you want, as long as it follows the rules of the house.” And moving to the white board she kept talking. “So, what is it you have to know before you start writing?”
It was by the end of the class that Jared had finally approached by Jensen.
“What are you doing here?”
“I came to study, and I can take this class.” Jensen almost smiled. “And I was sent by the people from home. Your parents are trying to reach you…”
“I don’t care.” He was walking away.
“What are you doing?” asked Jensen.
Jared’s long legs carried him away very fast. “Avoiding you.”
“Well, then I shouldn’t tell you Rachel passed away.” Jared stopped and hesitated before keep walking.
Jared saw Jensen the next morning as he walked into campus, Still not back long enough to have his license back. And suddenly he missed something, missed the moments of companionship they shared, the groans Jensen let out every time they got in trouble, which was quite often.
It impacted him so much he even wrote one of his assignments about it. His piece “The willow missing his shadow” granted him the top score on his first quarter and he had girls and boys fawning for him, the sensible brokenhearted poet.
Now imagine the color of his face when a couple kids said that to him; in his face. He couldn’t ignore the short of Jensen or the way he was leaving as fast as he could to not laugh right away.
“Something funny?” Jared asked after him catched up with him.
“No, not really, Oh, great brokenhearted poet.” Jensen smiled. The kind of smiles that makes him crinkle his face.
Jared rubbed his neck and rolled his eyes. “It’s just homework.”
“Yeah I got it, the poor cat almost falling from the cupboard? Like the one from your mother’s birthday?” Jared felt his face getting hot. “Condoms and Joanna?”

Right before thanksgiving Professor Smith gave them the craziest project ever, they had to make a scene and play it in front of the entire class, in groups of two.
“And I’m gonna pair Ackles and Padalecki, not only because you’re all the way back there, but also because you have the same drawl.” She said taking another color tag for them while the entire class smiled at her joke. “That’s it guys, go crazy! I’ll see you in a week.” And taking her glasses off continued. “Don’t eat too much and if you do, bring me something, I’ll be here grading your papers.” People started getting up and leaving wishing the professor happy holidays.
Jared rushed to the table and asked Professor Smith to let him do this alone.
“Nope, I said couples, I mean couples, and I expect couples.” And carrying her briefcase towards the door waited for him before closing the door. “Go now, don’t disappoint me.”
Is not like they don’t talk to each other, they try, every now and then they find a way to spend a moment together, but the second Jensen mentions anything about their town. Which happens very often, his friend just leaves and they don’t see each other for a couple days, Jared has gone as far as to ignore news and e-mails just to be sure he’s not gonna be bothered with anything that will remind him of the worst time of his life
Jensen appeared at the bookstore with a couple notebooks and two cups of coffee. Jared met him when one of the tellers called him.
“What are you doing here?”
“My last paper was bad; I seriously need a good grade in this one.”
Jared rolled his eyes and turned around towards the office “okay come in.”
They tumbled ideas about what they should write about. The craziest ones had a giraffe and a panda. Jared had a long gulp of his coffee and laughed when Jensen suggested “The amazing adventures of Moose and Squirrel.” like Sheriff Sheppard named them.
“I believe that has a show already.” Jensen was so matter of fact about some things it made Jared guffaw. “He’s fine now, you know?”
“Let’s get things straight, we’re working on a paper, we’re not talking about that stupid town ever again.”
“You have to listen to me. I found out things about…” Jared got up repeating he had left everything behind and he should drop the subject once and for all. “Fine!” and throwed him the pad with the few notes there. “I’ve been trying to talk to you for three months, I’m not gonna beg.” Jensen got his stuff and was moving to the door. “I’ll send you my first draft by Saturday, I’m going home tonight.”
Jared saw the retreating form and wanted to make him stop. Wanted to call and ask him to stay with him, wanted to hold his hand like the day when Sheppard got them in jail.
“That means you’re eating?” Jared slapped himself internally for asking such a boring thing.
“No.” Jensen asked. “Apparently my treatment is not working anymore; I haven’t progressed in the last six months now.” For one second white pale pupils fell on Jared face and he was closing the door. “Still I’m going home, its election year and my dad’s having a big dinner, your parents are going, Megan too.”
Jared’s head moved so fast he felt a little dizzy, but maybe was because of the news.
“She’s there?”
“For the holidays, I told you. Things changed and are far better now.” The door closed and Jared was left in complete silence. He was finally coming out of the shock of what Jensen said and his legs were finally moving forward when the phone on the desk ringed and he had to go back to work.
He had to call Jensen and talk to him.
***
Jared stared at the skype icon on his screen for a couple minutes. Jensen had the little green thingy. He could see him. He could talk to him. He had a million theories in his head, maybe their parents came out clean and the town stopped hiding things, after all it’s been almost six years, maybe nobody cared anymore.
Suddenly a request appeared, from Jensen, and he clicked yes before even thinking. Instead of Jensen he saw a dark form, it took him a couple minutes to make out what the form was, and it was an elbow.

“Told you… you’re a freaking genius.” He heard Jensen’s voice and Osric’s laughter. “I knew you’ll win.”
“It’s just a stupid fair Jensen, is not like I’m a rocket scientist or anything.” The kid moved back while the older man was holding Osric on a hug, both laughing, the kid tried to escape his friend and he elbowed the computer once more.
The kid then noticed he had opened a conversation. Jared had just one second to duck. But he could still hear what they were saying. “OH! I did something to your… Jensen. Why is Jared among your contacts?”
“Give me that Os.”
“Tell me…”
“Give it back Os…”
“You are in the same school? In his same class?”
And the conversation was off. Jared felt miserable.
But not as bad as Jensen, Osric felt betrayed and was about to cry. “You can’t be friend with both of us; I won’t talk to him ever again. I’d hate to stop talking to you aswell”
“I’m not asking you to. Just to respect my right to chose other friends.”
“He’s not like US Jensen, he’s not a rotten.”
“He’s not a rotten Os, but is like he were, is like he died with me, the same event changed our lives.”
***
Jared got Jensen’s first draft few hours later but he couldn’t read it. Not after he read the title. *The man in the apple tree.* and it was about a boy’s suicide.
“Hell NO! you’re not gonna get a good grade with the same thing over and over.” He texted to Jensen
“OH great brokenhearted poet, you tell me about using personal tragedy to get good grades.”
Jared rolled his eyes at the small screen and sent his reply. “You’re never gonna let that rest, do you?”
“Me? 3:) never!”
Jared let out a chuckle and missed Jensen and home a little bit more.
He sent his own work the next night. “The curious cat that lost its lives” was sent back with a giant cross across the pages.
“Really? How mature….” He texted back.
“You could call it the coward cat that rather be a chicken, it’ll make more sense” and after a second a second message. “And why are we having this conversation on texts? Would it kill you to call me?”
“STFU”
On the other end was Jensen’s time to smile and dial Jared’s number.
“What?” Jared asked as all greeting without real heat in his words.
“Nothing, just wanted to know if we could finally get to decide the subject. And I was looking at the rules: you should write about the things you know” he read from the pad in his hand. “You should know the end of your story beforehand. But let your characters guide you and…” he stopped hearing Jared’s laughter. “Are you making fun of me?”
“It depends. Are you always the teacher’s pet?”
“Fuck you, man, I’m just trying to pass this class, I don’t want to be the oldest and being flunked aside of it.” Jared’s laughter made him smile, not the same mechanic smile his brain provided when he was in front of a smile, this one was like the rare ones only his family and Osric could get out of him. And; Jared. Of course, Jared.
“Just let’s try something new, something that has nothing to do with that Godammed town.”
“Okay, I’m all ears, tell me what do you want us to do?” silence fell between the boys.
“No idea.”
“That’s what I thought…” and sighing. “I have this idea about something that has nothing to do with life as we know now, but is about my time in school when I played football.”
“Wait… your pretty ass played football?” Jared was bent down laughing; he had tears running down his face.
“I’m gonna let that one pass because you think I have a pretty ass.” That phrase made Jared choke and start coughing. It was Jensen’s time to laugh.

By the end of the week they still had nothing.
So the first thing Jensen did was to face Jared, he brought him a box his mother sent; Things from his old bedroom.
“Why you brought this?”
“Your momma sent it.” And he left the box inside Jared’s department. “There’s also a can of cookies from Megan.” Jared felt like crying but also felt angry for no real reason.
“Take them and throw the whole thing away…” he moved to the couch not even checking his box. “I’m serious. I’m done with that town, and once the semester is over I’ll be done with you too.”

“Where the fuck are you going? We have to finish the project for tomorrow at 6:45”
“I’m done with this, if I fail, I’d fail but I can’t stare at your face right now.”
Jared moved forward angry. “Wait. I’m not gonna fail on this because you’re a-”
Jared had to get quiet; Jensen turned furious and was holding him by the neck face feral and muscles tense. He was pressing hard, cutting any chance Jared had to breath.
“I am what? What? A rotten? Is that what you were about to say?” he shouted out of control and pushing him harder and harder, not caring that Jared’s face was almost purple and his arms lost strength.
“Jenn…” Jared tried to get some air but failed. “Jens… ple-please…” and finally the rotten’s eyes moved from his friend’s face to his own hand and he let go.
Without even flinching Jensen let him go and turned. “Told you I had to go.”
Jensen didn’t even regret it until the next morning.

Jared was waiting for Jensen outside the classroom.
“Hey…” Jared said and forced a couple pages on his hands while Jensen’s eyes traveled at the obviously painful purple mark on his neck.
“Sorry about that.” Jensen started, his face crumpling on a frown.
“Read that before Professor Smith call us.” Jared said pulling his scarf higher up.
“Nah, I’m not doing this, I’m gonna ask for a chance to present it late, rotten privilege…” Jensen passed next to Jared and entered the classroom.
“Is this about last night? Because you know I wasn’t calling you anything of that sort…” Jensen stopped and breathing hard let out a curse.
“Look, is not safe for you to be around me right now.”
“But we have to present this paper…”
“Nope. Not me.”
“bu-but. What about me?”
“I’m following your example, I’m done with you.”
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
“It means that you can’t even face the fact that you were wrong.” And they entered the class, Jensen walked straight to his seat waiting for Professor Smith to explain her about his outburst and that he had to be in a stress free environment.
That’s the third time, Jared sat next to him.
“Unbelievable, you’re a selfish ass…”
“Me? Did I deserted my family just because they’re not perfect?”
“Is not about being perfect! It was never about that. Is about murder! About abandoning me when I was a kid!”
“You were a teen Jared, you could understand what was happening, you should have asked.”
“You think they would’ve explained…”
“All I’m saying is that you had far more chances to get this unresolved mommy and daddy issues instead of using them as an excuse for your lack of drive.”
The teacher was already at the front of the class.
“Good morning and happy holydays kids.” The whole room rumbled in mixed happy holidays to you too voices. “How was your week?” more unidentifiable voices while the lady opened her briefcase and took a block. “Let’s start with homework. First…” and she noticed Jared leaning toward Jensen’s desk. “I see that back there they’re desperate, so we will start with them…” and louder. “Jensen? Jared?” and she went back to her desk.
“I have to say I have nothing ready…” Jensen started and the teacher ignored him. “My situation as a partially deceased made me unable to complete my homework.”
“You selfish ass…” Jared let out. Professor Smith looked up.
“Down here you two.”
Jensen climbed down the few steps to the front of the class.
“Am I selfish? Really Moose? Because last time I checked I went back home while you stayed away from your parents and your baby sister and even throwed away the cookies she made for you.”
“You know what happened!” Jared followed Jensen up front. “You told me that my brother saw a guy raping you and did nothing to help, that he took pictures instead of helping!”
“All I know! But all I remembered was the stupid cell phone case and green eyes. I told you I only remembered green eyes.”
“So what?”
“Jeff had hazel eyes; just like your entire family… it wasn’t him.” Jared, felt a knot on his stomach. “But of course you were in too much man pain to hear the truth.”

“Stephen Amell, one of the red pickup truck gang members, he was Jeff’s ass kisser and Anders wanted him before…before Ty or me. He confessed, he told me. So he acted out of survival instinct.”
“It was Jeff’s phone. I saw it.”
“He was too drunk when Samantha Ferris took him out of the bar, his keys, his wallet and cell phone were given to Stephen, he was there, while Jeff was digesting what you told him.”
“That can’t be truth…”
“Our moms and Mrs. Ferris are safer now, Josh burnt the remains. He told me. And they finally put things to rest. I even forgive them for Misha.”
“You let go? So easy? As if you never loved him?” That’s when the pain and the anger made it happen again, Jensen felt the same heavy hot pain in his chest. And Jensen was bent down in one second struggling to breath and holding the space where his silent still heart was.
“No… I love him, and I will always love him, but if I don’t let go I’m as good as I was in a grave. NGHHHH…” Professor Smith turned to see him.
“You need help.” And Jared turned to his classmates. “Someone call an ambulance”
“Shut up! Don’t you dare to pretend you care.”
“But I care!”
“For a rotten?” some of the boys in class were fidgeting in their desks.
They were waiting for a sign that this wasn’t part of the play. “a rotten Mr. Militia man?”
“I’m not the same I was.”
“You’re right; you were just an angry kid.” And he landed on his hands and knees. “God, this hurts…”
“Do you have any idea? How it feels like? To watch others with their loved ones brought back? To see how unfair is to not having your own blood back? While others were brought back not deserving it?”
“Oh yeah, and throwing blood all over them, as you did with 12 yo kids will make things better, right?”
“NO! That’s what I’m saying…”
“Because one thing you must…. Aaagh- you must understand…” Jensen felt the thump on his eardrums as a rush of liquid life running through his body.
“You have to understand that coming back is not about fairness, is not about being out of a grave. Is about second chances and taking them. Osric, I, and others, we all have to face the things we never did, and win, we have to live a life and not waste it.” The thumping stopped. “Even you, you died the day you got on that patrol car with Anders. I never asked if he touched you…”
Someone in the audience gasped.
“He did, he had his hand on my leg, and now I understand it was not as innocent as I thought… but I’m fine.”
“Good…” Jensen took a deep breath. “Because you’re important to me.”
Jared was about to cry, he turned around facing the white board. “Yeah… I’m important.”
"Yes, you are, you’re the one who made me laugh again, you’re the one who led me to the truth, to closure and to new life.” Jensen sat holding his chest, the more he calmed the less pain he felt.
“Yeah… new life…” Jared was crying and he cleaned his face. “Wish I could… wish I…”
“You will…” Jared turned “you need to stop denying yourself the chance.” and Jensen offered Jared his hand, without hesitation Jared held him and got him up in one pull. “You will, just allow yourself to be healed…” he smirked at his own words. “Cheesy as it sounds. Sometimes you cling to pain so long it feels natural, and I know how it feels like: But it’s been more than five years. It’s about time Jared.” And breathing as deep as his chest allowed. “Haven’t you love Jared? Love As crazy and as strong as I loved Misha?”
Jared blinked thinking back, yes, he loved Zach, but it was never like the green eyed guy in his brother’s football team, it was never like that smile he idealized over the years, and yet it was nothing like the warm giddy feeling he felt for Jensen even when the rotten infuriated him. Nothing like the painful, hollow feeling he felt without Jensen during all those months.
“I-I… I want to believe I do…”
“Good… Go after that love. Nothing can heal a broken heart, only love. Do you hear?” Jared was crying and Jensen hugged him, on his ear he whispered.
“Jeff didn’t came back because it was only until October 9th, he died on the 12th, like Misha.” And Jared let out a sob. Jensen noticed then they were arguing in front of their class.

I'm sorry I haven't updated this yet, but I'm just taking extra care on editing this time, in my last story someone mentioned I made the characters abusive.
I promise I'll finish it soon.

They turned to Professor Smith. The lady was frowning. “Yeah…. No, I’m not gonna pass you two…” and she wrote something down. “No matter how great that real life love story is, you’re just improvising and you had a whole week to make this assignment, if you actually write that down it’ll get far better than that.”
“I’m sorry… ” Jensen tried to explain, but the professor raised her hand.
“Save yourself the excuses Jensen. No matter how much you love each other.” And finally “are you okay? Is the pain gone?” Jensen blushed for first time since he came back and nodded. “Jared? Are you okay?” the guy nodded too.
“Good, you have until tomorrow to present your homework, now go out.” She directed her voice to the rest of the class. “Next... you?” and pointed to a couple at the far right. She turned to Jensen and Jared once more. “Go out, now, and for god sakes kiss or whatever.” They walked away.
“Jensen I need to see you after class, please be here.”
Once outside Jared leaned against the wall and sobbed. “You never told me…”
“I’ve been trying for the last three months brother…”
“Brother…” Jared repeated. “You should have told me.”
“I tried, I wanted you to come home with me so you could see how much things has changed.”
Jared sobbed again. “What I’ve done with my life?”
Jensen laughed. “What are you talking about? You’re gonna be fine…” he laughed again and again.
“Thank you for laughing at my pain…”
“Look… you have to learn to let it go…”

Jensen waited for the end of the class and found Mrs. Smith after class.
“I’m sorry, I got angry and I still can’t control my…”
She made a motion for him to stop. “I know, don’t worry, we couldn’t’ finish all the scenes today, we’re gonna have another one on Wednesday so please get things polished by then.”
Jensen scratched the back of his neck and stammered before saying he was sorry. “Nothing to be sorry…” she turned at him and moved her fingers to her eyes.
From her right eye she took a contact and showed him her clear partially deceased eyes. “It takes a lot to control it, so don’t worry.” She sat in the chair near the desk. “One thing I do know is that you have to take what you can when you can…” the teacher let out a sigh. “I’m back for almost four years now.”
“I’m back for half that same time.”
“You’re a baby again, Jensen. Enjoy it while you can.” Jensen frowned not understanding. “Haven’t you heard? Apparently this is not permanent. Some of us have noticed deterioration of their cognitive functions.” Jensen blinked surprised. “And others have this.” She rolled her sleeve and Jensen could see a blue-ish spot. The skin there was dry and looked really callous.
“What’s that?”
“The tissue is dying Jensen. That’s why I’m talking to you, I don’t have a family, not a soul, I don’t have anyone, you have Jared and that guy loves you, please enjoy that as long as you can.”
Jensen blinked. Jared was right then down the hall splashing cold water on his puffed eyes after crying for half an hour.
“That’s all, is not something everyone knows just yet, but you should look for any sign of this.”
Jensen left the room in shock. He couldn’t think clear,
He stood outside the door and dialed for Osric. “Hey Os, how are you doing?” How could he ask the boy, how could he know if his little friend, his only real friend was okay?.
“Jensen… come on… it’s too early for this…” groaned the teen and hung up.
Jensen stood right there looking at his cell phone as if it personally offended him before a smile broke on his face. If something were not perfect Os would have been up and worried as usual. A sleepy Os was a happy one.
So he went looking for Jared.

Jared let Jensen leads him to his apartment right a few blocks away from Josh’s house, that was the first time he was there. Everything was plain and lifeless, as if nothing personal were placed around. Not pictures, no books, no trinkets; nothing.
Jared sat on the couch while Jensen brought some stuff he had from their town, a newspaper where the conversation he had with Stephen Amell, he had stolen cell phone and recorded the entire conversation. “Is not online just in case. nobody wants to do a big deal out of this.”
Jensen gave Jared the phone and left him alone to talk to his mom.
Jensen walked the quarter mile to Josh’s place and sat in front of his brother.
“I guess you heard, right? About the decomposition some of you are suffering?” Jensen nodded. “I don’t want you to worry, little brother.”
Jensen got quiet for a minute before saying anything else. “I’m worried… am I going to die again?”
Josh moved to sit next to hand nudged him with his shoulder. “Come on… I lost you once already baby brother, I’m not gonna make the same mistake anymore…”
“But I haven’t shown any progress in the last eight months Josh.”
“Yes, but you’re not showing any regression either.”
Jensen sighed. “I had a rage episode yesterday… with Jared.”
Josh got quiet, for a second he looked into Jensen’s face biting his lip before smiling as if nothing were happening. “Nah… that’s because I know the guy, he’s annoying.”
Jensen chuckled while his brother got up. “You still not drinking alcohol Jen?”
“nope, doctor said it wasn’t good for me.”
Josh slapped him. “Bah! Ignore him; you need more than a glass of apple juice Jen.”
So that’s the story of how Jensen had his first beer in five years. He needed something stronger, because he had black spots on his legs and his chest; that had been there since the first time he fought the nurses when he came back. He wouldn’t mention it to his family unless it was completely necessary.

Jared held the phone after Jensen dialed for him and breathing hard tried to figure out what would he say.
“Hello?” it was his mom.
“H-Hi… mom?”
“Jared…” he could hear a sob from the other side.
“I told you it wasn’t his fault…”
You can’t believe this is going to be easily forgiven, No!
But the first step was given and Jared was eager to get this family back. He spoke to his mother and then to his dad, he said he was sorry and heard them saying the same a million times.
Jared cried and heard about how Megan had come home finally and how sorry his parents were that he couldn’t be there, that they’ve ruined their family like that.
“Nothing to be sorry about, we have a lot of time to change that.” He said with a knot on his throat. “I’ll be there for Christmas.”
“Are you coming with Jensen?”
“Yeah... I guess, I’ll ask if he’s going too…”
A moment of awkward silence filled the place and Jared tried to find something to say. “If you see meggie tell her I really liked the cookies.”
“I’m here Jay, and I can’t wait to see you… ” and Jared started crying there.
Bottom line the Padalecki family started the way to recovery after all lies were cleared and all the pain was over.
***
Christmas came and went and so did the white in campus, Jared who felt out of place and alone started smiling more. he started feeling like he was part of a family again and all thanks to Jensen. by Easter Osric pestered his mother enough to be sent to visit Jensen for a couple days and he was over the moon, not only he had recovered completely he also had a girlfriend.
And once there he had Jensen occupied because he wanted to see everything and visit everywhere, museums, art galleries, the library of God Knows What college, don’t ask Jensen. By day two he was bummed.
That’s the day Jensen had to go back to school to pick up a book and they had lunch at the cafeteria.
Osric, Bless his soul, was excited about the college/big boys food, he even squealed when Jensen told him where they were going.
Osric saw a girl passing with a giant ice cream plate and ran towards the counter once again, even if his tray is full of the things Jensen can’t have.
“Jensen!!” Jared sat next to him. “Tell me you have notes from Monday class? I think I fell asleep after the Camus debacle… I seriously hate when Sebastian pisses off Mrs. Smith.”
Reply
“Damn…” Jared got up. He was still embarrassed of how he acted and wanted nothing more than to not face those dark innocent eyes. “Is he around? You think I still can run away?”
Jensen was looking around trying to find Kevin among the crowd when with a small thud a giant cup of ice cream was set on the table. “You should see that girl’s face, she thinks I’m a student! A genius or someth-”
His eyes fell on the tall guy in front.
“Sorry… I-I…” Jared pointed to the door and started walking away.
“Os…” Jensen was looking at his young friend. “Jared…” both his friends looked at him. “You eventually must have to clear things up. This is not right. Aren’t we all starting over?”
“Yeah…” Jared came back and tried to smile. “HI, kid. I’m sorry, but it was never my intention. I had no idea what Mark was doing or I’ll make him stop. I should have stood up for you.”
“I remember you held me; to stop him…”informed to Jensen. “You were covered in blood too. It was not your fault.” Jared smiled. “You’re not my best friend. But we’re cool… Now” as if nothing else turned to Jensen. “There’s like forty flavors.”
Jared chuckled. “You’d love Oggie’s it’s heaven! Over a hundred flavors and you can sample everything you want. We have to go before you go back home.”
Osric had his mouth stuffed with ice cream and still started talking. “Can we go Jensen? Can we?”
Jensen offered the kid a napkin. “No, unless you eat something other than sugar, your mother is gonna be pissed if I send you back without teeth.”
“Oh don’t be so uptight. Isn’t that the only thing you can eat?”
“I’m not hungry…” Jensen didn’t say he started throwing up after having ice cream or Jell-o again. The news were around already few half deceased were dying again. Even after treatment. Few others showed signs of regression, and Osric had been checked twice already just in case. Jensen never said anything.
“You still can’t eat solids?” asked the kid surprised.
“No, never tried, but I did tried beer.”
Once at Oggie’s Jensen stayed back while Osric and Jared, the giant sugar freak were unleashed, torturing the amazingly patient waiters.
Jared made Osric cry laughing before long.
“Jensen, Jensen, come here!!” shouted Os, but his friend just waved from the other end of the room. The kid wanted to show him how red Jared’s face was
“I’ll give you ten dollars if you don’t tell him.” Jared was still coughing after trying the sour mango and hot pepper ice cream.
“Make it 20 and I won’t show the pictures.” He said pointing to his phone.
Jared got serious. “NO, never take pictures of someone without asking for permission, this is a game and we’re friends but sometimes people get hurt because others can’t respect their privacy.” Jared sobered up and turned to the guy serving him another flavor.
“Wild mint and passion fruit.” The guy on the uniform offered while the one with Osric was offering the kid another sample too.
“Blackberry and dulce de leche” and Osric let out a moan.
“I want that.”
“Tell you what cutie.” The guy said. “Make your grumpy friend come over and I’ll give you one for free.” Osric turned around and then to Jared before shouting bloody murder
“JENSEN!!! HELP!!!” Jared turned surprised and choked on his ice cream. Jensen was running eyes feral, muscles tense.
“Step away from him!” he ordered to the guy offering yet another sample of ice cream. “What is it kid?” Jensen’s eyes turned to Jared with anger. “You’re three feet away Jared, can’t I trust you to look after him?”
“Calm down…” ordered Osric as if nothing happened. “I just need you to help me decide which one is the best. This one,” he pointed to the container of something light brown with dark red spots. “Is great, and I don’t know if I want that one or this other Cherry jam and bitter chocolate, you have to taste it.” He moved talking to the waiter. “Can he sample the cherry one?” and with a shit-eating smile. “He has a thing for sweet things.” Alfie - by his tag- blushed three shades of red and offered Jensen a small spoon of ice cream.
Reply
“nonsense there’s always room for ice cream!” the young boy declared and took the spoon from Alfie. “Thank you Alfie, you’re very sweet…” and he hummed as if he just noticed his word game looking intently into Jensen’s face. “You know what you need?” and he smiled again. “You need a boyfriend.”
Jensen frowned. “No Os, I don’t need a boyfriend.”
“Yes you do.” And Osric turned to the blond boy in front of them. “Alfie here, I bet he’d be a great boyfriend.”
Jensen smiled to the blond boy before saying sorry. “OS, you’re 13 and you have no right to talk like that about anybody. You behave or we’re not getting any more ice cream.”
They heard someone clearing his throat. “Excuse me... what about me?”
Osric’s head snapped to Jared very fast. “You want to be Jensen’s boyfriend?” and Jared coughed ice cream once more.
“NO!”
“No?” Jensen asked.
“No… I mean, yeah, but no, I wasn’t talking about that…” he cleared his throat again. “I was talking about ice cream, okay, ice cream…!” and showed them the spoon on his hand. “Anyway… I was trying to say... You owe me an apology.” And he pointed his spoon to Osric. “You didn’t have to scream like that in front of me. And you shouldn’t think I’ve done something to him just because he starts screaming.”
Osric couldn’t contain his laughter. In the end Jensen took the sample offered and moaned delighted, finally he started talking to Alfie, his older brother came back too and he told Jensen he was handsome. Much to Osric delight Jensen told Alfie he was cute too. And they exchanged phone numbers
They went home on Jared’s car. Osric will be going home the next morning at six, he had to sleep. Of course, once the giant amount of sugar wore off.
Jared got home and went to bed, he was happy to be on Osric good grace again, mostly because the kid was so important to Jensen, and he would never do anything to anger Jensen. Not because he were scared of his friend, no, but because there was nothing better than to see a smile on that face.
He had to go out and run for a while because he was in sugar rush. When he finally fell on bed and turned the lights off he was thinking about the day, no matter what he always ended up thinking about Jensen, with Alfie, Jensen with a boyfriend. And he didn’t want Jensen to have a boyfriend.
“NO, I mean yes…” he rolled his eyes to himself. “Yes, I’d hate to lose my friend… if he gets a boyfriend.” He rationalized. And then it hit him, Osric was in his mind over and over *you want to be Jensen’s boyfriend?* “YES!” a voice provided inside of him.
He rolled in bed and the idea was fix in his head: Jensen's boyfriend, Jensen's boyfriend, he’d be a good boyfriend, he’d treat him right, and will be there all the time for him. And won’t ever let Jensen feel alone or sad.
“I’d be a great boyfriend.” He said before closing his eyes.
In his dream he saw the same guy from his brother’s team, and he felt his cock hardening at the sweat soaked t-shirt against a taut stomach and wide shoulders, and those eyes, the guy knew where to look, right at him making him hard. But this time the dream changed when the guy removed his helmet it was Jensen. Jared was moving closer; he hugged Jeff and moved to Jensen to have a kiss when his phone woke him up. It was Jensen, he sounded hoarse.
I’m at the airport, I don’t feel good, please don’t call Josh.”
Jensen took Osric home and once he was in bed Jensen couldn’t pretend anymore, he’d been throwing up every now and then since the bite of ice cream on the store. His stomach hurt and he felt hazy.
Taking the boy to the airport and pretending he was fine was hell so was trying not to pass out once Osric ran to the plane.
Someone offered him a chair and an EMT checked him, Jensen called Jared because he didn’t want to let Josh know about the marks.
So seeing Jared running down the aisle made him sigh relieved.
“Hey! Jensen. What happened?” the EMT moved and Jared crouched in front of Jensen. “Are you Okay?” Jensen just moved his head.
“Sir, are you a relative? If you’re not a relative, he has to-” he had to go to a hospital and wait for the relative in charge of him.
Reply
“He’s my boyfriend.” Offered Jared secure, Jensen was left speechless.
“Is it true sir?” asked the man to Jensen.
It took him a second to register that the question was directed to him and nod. They were left alone. Much to their surprise.
“What happened?” Jared had a hand on his jaw looking into his face. And Jensen regretted his call.
“Nothing, I just got sick.”
“He’s mildly dehydrated and he’s showing signs of deterioration. I’d strongly recommend for him to go to a doctor.”
“No need…” Jensen held Jared and got up. “My brother is one of the researchers on the main health and research center for partially deceased patients.”
The man looked impressed and said it was okay for them to go home. Jared held Jensen against him and practically carried him to the car, Jensen felt dizzy and too tired. It has to be close to the end, he thought, because he couldn’t even keep his eyes open.
“If something happens.” Jensen started saying, and let out a sigh. “If something happens to me, please make sure my family don’t blame themselves.” And after rubbing his eyes he added. “it’s been an honor to meet you Jared, wish we could’ve meet each other better.”
Jared felt nervous about that, why was Jensen saying that. He turned and saw his friend closing his eyes, laying still. And he was in complete panic because his friend wasn’t reacting, not even responding to pain, he tried pinching him hard. So he did what was logic, drove straight to the center, he drove straight to ER and he told them who Jensen was, and who his brother was and tried to be near to his friend but the nurse asked him out.
“Only first degree relatives’ sir…”
“But…” the words came naturally to his mouth, easily as if they were true. “I’m his boyfriend; we’ve been together since he came back.”
He was sitting next to Jensen, doctors and nurses came and went not finding anything about him until josh rushed in and stopped in his tracks seeing Jared there.
“Hey….” Jared offered getting up.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know he called me this morning... and the last couple days he’s been around with Osric.”
Josh got his brother’s chart and started reading. “Oh No!! Jensen…” and he pulled the sheet and robe off of Jensen’s chest. Both could see the purple marks and some spots going black. “Stupid. Stupid kid.” Josh sat on the bed crying.
“What?”
“He’s in regression, haven’t you noticed anything?”
“Well, he’s not eating… and he’s been tired all the time but…” and Jared suddenly couldn’t breathe, Jensen was dying again.
They noticed how Jensen inhaled deeply and turned on his side. Josh got up. And he started flipping pages before rushing out screaming for something.
Jared got close to Jensen, this couldn’t be happening, just when he entertained the idea, just when he noticed he was inlove with Jensen.
“Whoa…! Love is a little bit too big” his brain answered.
Still he stayed with Jensen day and night for two days.
By day three Josh and his team finally knew what was happening to his baby brother. “He’s asleep, he’s sleeping after all this time. He’s finally sleeping.” He bent down and kissed Jensen’s head. “You ridiculous little idiot, you’re sleeping”
Jared sighed and sat on the first surface he found, smiling relived.
Jensen slept for three and a half days, but had to stay in hospital for a week more. Jared had a video of him snoring that was sent to Osric much to the kid’s delight.
Josh had his brother on antibiotics and a skin regeneration buster cream. Slowly but surely Jensen’s bruises started fading.
“So I’m not dying? Jensen asked to his doctor.
“No... You had those bruises from the very start, right? And your heart is not precisely pumping blood just yet, so when the fight broke some still dead tissue and blood vessels you got that hematoma, and the blood was stuck there for all this time. You should have said something to your brother. Poor thing was worried sick when we found them.”
The doctor gave him the forms and Jensen left the hospital.
Josh drove him home; it took Jensen a whole hour to force his brother to let him go back to his own place.
“I told mom…” Jensen sighed. He was expecting his mother in full on chuckling hen state running around his place. “She’s thrill to hear you’re sleeping now.”
Reply
“No, I couldn’t tell her her middle child is an idiot.”
“I’m sorry…” Jensen was expecting to find his mother in complete mother hen overdrive, but instead he was left in an empty, cold and quiet apartment.
“Welcome home…” he said to himself and went to bed.
The bell woke him up after just a couple hours, who’d think he needed so much sleep after sleeping four days in a row. Jared was at the other side of the door and hugged him without saying a word, Jensen stood still on the embrace until Jared let out a quiet “thanks God.” And he started laughing.
“Oh yeah…” Jensen smiled trying to hide the weird unsettling thing inside of him. “As my boyfriend you must have been worried sick.”
Jared laughed hard to hide the blush, but the finally said yes making Jensen feel that thing inside again. Jared brought papers and notes and told Jensen he had to stay up in class and take notes for him. “I spoke to guys on your other classes and most of them are willing to share notes with you, one or two classes were recorded for you, and I spoke to few teachers so you can present exams you might have lost.”
“Thank you…” Jensen was touched, and overwhelmed, he had so much to do but here was his only friend offering his help.
Seeing how fast his bruises were fading he told his brother about Mrs. Smith. Josh offered her a consultation. But when he got to school she wasn’t there. Mrs. Smith had retired just few days after he left. Sebastian wasn’t there either.
So he went to his only source.
“He’s still recovering.”Jared informed. “She got really mad not seeing you, when she knew why….” He was nervous and avoiding Jensen’s eyes. “She never… nobody knew, we didn’t knew…” Jensen understood immediately.
“Did she lose control?” Jared just nodded the answer. “where is she now?”
“I don’t know, nobody knows, the entire college doesn’t give any information. Someone said Sebastian’s parents are suing the school for what happened.”
“Was it that bad?”
Jared nodded once more before starting talking. “he was giving his opinion as usual and she just jumped him, just like that, on one second she was over him punching him shouting incoherently.” Both got quiet for a moment. “What does it feels?” Jared was looking at his eyes. “To lose control like that?”
Jensen avoided his friend’s face. “Nothing, you don’t feel anything, not even guilt. And that makes it even worst.” Finally he looked into Jared’s eyes and saw fear, he never saw Jared so scared before.
Jared shivered and moved away, the TA started talking.
“Good morning guys… we have to finish the chapter about impressionists and the realistic description of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.”
Jensen raised his hand. “Yes, Jensen?”
“Do you know what happened with Mrs. Smith?”
“No, we’re not allowed to talk about the incident yet, let’s finish this chapter okay?” he turned and started writing notes.
***
Jensen went home that night decided to go looking for his teacher the next day. And Jared found him on his way out the next morning.
“Jensen, there’s not much you can do.” He answered at the crazy idea in his friend’s head.
Jensen was furious and his clear almost white pupils were fix on his friend’s face “At least I’ll try.”
Jared scoffed how he could worry so much. “You hardly even know her.” Jared tried while holding his hand.
Jensen turned tossing Jared’s hands away. “You don’t understand, you are not one of us. That’s why you don’t care.” He started walking but Jared followed him.
“I care, I just don’t understand why you try to save everyone.” And Jared held Jensen by the arms and standing in front of him.
“Jared, please don’t piss me off, last time the marks lasted weeks…”
“I just want to understand. Why?”
“At the center…” he tried but nothing came out. “At the center here… they said that when rottens lost it, and they have no one… they… those without family are used for experiments… I wouldn’t allow that to happen to her.”
Jared moved to the car and drove Jensen straight to the police station where the incident was reported.
The only police officer that cared enough to talk to them told them that the rotten involved might have died already, that was sent to a confinement center downtown.
