Jeff wraps his arm around Sherri’s shoulders and smiles as he watches Jared and Jensen bickering good-naturedly over the grill in the backyard of the house that they just bought together and the best way to cook steaks. Sherri glances up at him, beaming, tears sparkling in her hazel eyes. “You did good, Jeffery Dean,” she says softly. “Gerry’d be so happy.”

Jeff presses a kiss to her forehead and nods, knowing that she’s right. Jared has really blossomed with Jensen in the past two years, once again the bright, intelligent, self-confident boy he used to be. And Jensen adores Jared, more in love than anyone Jeff’s ever met. He honestly couldn’t have created a better partner for his surrogate son if he tried.

He laughs softly when Jared grabs Jensen around the waist and throws him over his shoulder, Jensen letting out a squeak and weakly smacking at Jared’s back and ass, demanding to be let down, Jared’s laughter echoing around the yard. He slips his hand in his pocket and brushes his fingers over the ring box that Jensen entrusted him with earlier when he came to Jeff and asked for his permission to propose to Jared. Yup, he thinks Gerry would be damn happy.

It may have taken a long time and Jared may have had to go through a lot of shit but he finally found his Prince Charming and got the happily ever after that he deserves so much.

This was simply gorgeous. I love the time it took for it to unfold, and how hesitant Jared was about it all. Thank you for not making it an instant thing for him to become better as well.
