Hope this is what you were looking for, OP. It kinda got away from me. *blushes*

Kinks/Warnings: RPS, AU, abused!Jared, hurt!Jared, shy!Jared, wooing, first time, bottom!Jared, awesome!Jensen, matchmaker!JDM, fluff, ridiculous, cavity-inducing amounts of schmoop.

JD follows Sherri down the sterile, too-white hallway of the hospital, every worse-case scenario playing over and over in his brain. She hadn’t told him what was wrong, just called crying and all he managed to get out of her was that Jared had been brought into the ER. Again.

There are two police officers and what Jeff assumes is a doctor waiting outside the room that the nurse directed them to, the room Jared is in. Sherri stops short and Jeff comes up behind her, one hand pressed to the small of her back. She leans into the touch just slightly and he wishes he could pull her into a hug but now isn’t the time.

Gerald, or Gerry as everyone knew him, was Jeff’s best friend since they were kids. Hell, Jeff was his best man when he married Sherri. When Gerry died a few years after Jared was born, it was natural for him to step in and help her raise the boy. He never thought of her as a potential partner - she’d always be Gerry’s wife and he couldn’t do that, couldn’t disrespect his memory like that - but he loved her, and Jared, as if they were his own.

The police tell her that Jared’s neighbor heard screaming from the apartment that Jared shares with the latest in a long line of losers and when they arrived, Jared was huddled in a pool of his own blood, unconscious, and his good-for-nothing boyfriend was nowhere to be found. The doctor tells her that this isn’t the first time Jared’s been in their ER in the last six months, always for something suspicious - a broken arm that he got falling down the stairs, a concussion he got from falling when getting out of the shower, a strained wrist from wrestling too hard with the dogs. Jeff knows that those are all bullshit excuses and he can’t believe that he let it get this bad. He hasn’t talked to Jared in nearly nine months, not since he moved in with the newest piece of shit that Jared seems to always attract. His pseudo-son was angry with Jeff when he tried to tell Jared that he deserved better and stopped returning Jeff’s phone calls. Apparently, he hasn’t talked to his mother either because Sherri looks just as surprised and distraught as he is.

The police assure Sherri that they’ll find the bastard and that he’ll be arrested but Jeff knows that for him to stay in jail, Jared will have to press charges. He’s not sure Jared will.

He’s a wonderful boy, whip-smart and wickedly funny and kinder than anyone Jeff’s ever met. He’s got a heart the size of Texas but doesn’t believe that he’s worthy of someone decent, someone who will love him and not hurt him. Jeff doesn’t know where the lack of confidence in relationships comes from, he and Sherri always supported him in whatever he did, especially when he came to them at sixteen, scared shitless, and told them he was gay. But somewhere along the line, something happened and Jared stopped believing in himself, even though Jeff and Sherri believed in him with all their hearts. He stopped standing up for himself and let asshole after asshole use him and walk all over him and - with this latest one - hurt him.

When the doctor leads them into the room and Jeff sees the young man that he loves as a son looking so small in a sea of stark white despite his size, Jeff realizes that he’s had enough.

He wraps an arm around Sherri’s trembling shoulders and stares at Jared while the doctor lists his injuries - two broken ribs, a concussion, a hairline fracture in his skull, bruises around his neck, a broken wrist, and a bruised kidney - and vows that this will not happen again. He promised Gerry on his death bed that he’d take care of Jared and Sherri and that’s just what he’s going to fucking do.

First thing the next morning, he goes to the apartment and grabs all of Jared’s shit and moves it back into Sherri’s house. He really doesn’t care that Jared is 26, and for now, is going to be moving back in with his momma. The second thing he does is head to the police station to file the restraining order on Jared’s behalf. Since Jared was still unconscious - and probably wouldn’t do it himself even if he wasn’t - Jeff forged his signature and smiled at the chief while he entered the information.

“Golf on Saturday, Jim?” Jeff asks his - and Gerry’s - long-time friend and chief of police, Jim Beaver.

Jim smirks and nods, filing the restraining order without question. “You bet’cha. Tell Sherri and JT I said hello.”

His next stop was work - The Law Offices of Kripke and Singer. This last part of his plan might be the most difficult but he has faith that it’ll work out. Hell, Jared needs for it to work out so Jeff will make sure it does.

Jensen Ackles is the youngest lawyer in the firm but he’s damn good and has a well-earned reputation for getting justice. Jeff had worked closely with the younger man when he first came on board a few years ago, impressed as hell as he watched him win case after case, standing up for victims that the system sometimes overlooked and getting them justice. He’s just as smart as Jared, a few years older and more grounded, which is what Jared really needs. Not to mention that he’s damn good looking. Jeff may be straight but he’s secure enough in his own manhood to be able to admit that another man is attractive.

Jensen’s had a string of bad luck lately - the office gossips (the secretaries) have spent many a lunch break talking about poor Jensen’s relationship troubles and bemoaning the fact that he’s gay. According to the gossip-mill, he’s sick of the bar scene and online dating was a nightmare he never plans on revisiting. Jensen’s secretary, Alona, mentioned that he was tired of only finding shallow guys that either wanted him for his money or his looks. Danneel, Jeff’s own secretary, said that he’s sworn off dating for the foreseeable future.

Well, not if Jeff has anything to say about it. He’s perfect for Jared and now Jeff just needs to get Jared better and introduce him to Jensen.

Jared spends a week in the hospital then argues with Jeff when he’s there to pick him up the day that he’s released and Jeff tells him that he’s going to be living with Sherri again for a while. His argument doesn’t last long and he deflates right in front of Jeff’s eyes and he wishes - not for the first time - that he could find the bastard that did this to Jared; maybe meet him in a dark alley somewhere. He’s sure no one would miss him.

Jeff gives it three weeks - enough time for most of Jared’s wounds to be healed, the only reminder the cast on his wrist - before he brings Jared into the office with him. He doesn’t really have an excuse to give Jared aside from wanting to get him out of the house but Jared just shrugs and follows behind him, hiding behind the curtain of his too-long bangs.

He stops by Jensen’s office on the way to his own on the pretense of checking in on Jensen’s latest case - not that he needs to or that he’s done it since he stopped mentoring Jensen - and makes sure that Jensen can see Jared where he’s hovering just slightly behind Jeff’s back.

Jeff smiles to himself when Jensen’s green eyes widen behind his glasses when he glances as Jared. “Oh, shit,” Jeff chuckles. “Where are my manners? Jensen, you haven’t met Jared have you?”

“Uh, no,” Jensen replies, staring at Jared a few seconds longer than what is socially acceptable, then turns his attention to Jeff, “I haven’t.”

Jeff smiles and takes a step further into Jensen’s office, his hand gently curling under Jared’s elbow to pull him along. “Jared,” he says softly. “This is Jensen Ackles, one of our best attorneys. Jensen, this is Jared Padalecki, my best friend’s son.”

Jensen smiles as he stands up and takes a few steps closer, his hand out-stretched. “Nice to meet you, Jared.”

Jared glances up and Jeff watches him closely, his heart warming when he sees the barely noticeable hitch in Jared’s breathing. “You too,” Jared whispers, hesitantly shaking Jensen’s hand.

“Well, we’ll let you get back to work,” Jeff says once Jared drops his hand back down to his side.

“Yeah,” Jensen mutters distractedly, his attention still on Jared. “C-ya, Jeff. Jared.”

Jeff smirks as he leads Jared to his office. Phase one complete.

~=~=~=~=~=

Jensen leans back in his chair, his gaze still fixed on the doorway where Jeff and Jared just walked out. He’s so lost in thought he doesn’t notice Danni poking her head inside his office until she clears her throat. Loudly.

“Jesus,” he gasps, glaring at the red-head when she cracks up laughing.

“Sorry,” she beams at him and he knows damn-well she’s not. She steps into the room, closing the door behind her and flops down into the chair in front of his desk. “Was that Jared I saw with Jeff?”

“Yeah. Do you know him?”

“Not really,” Danni sighs, picking absently at her fingernails and not looking at Jensen. “Jeff talks about him some and I’ve seen him on occasion but it’s been nearly a year or more.”

Jensen always thought that he knew everything there was to know about Jeff but apparently he was wrong. They’re friends and he genuinely likes the guy but he can’t help but wonder about this whole Jared situation. “What’s the deal there?”

Danni finally glances up and snorts out an un-ladylike laugh. “Calm down, super lawyer,” she teases. “Jared’s dad passed on when Jared was like three or something. JD and his dad where best friends for, like, ever, I think. From what I’ve heard, Jared’s momma never remarried and Jeff helped to raise him,” she ends on a shrug of one dainty shoulder.

Jensen nods and hopes he sounds casual when he asks, “So what’s up with Jared?”

If Danni’s smirk is anything to go by, he missed casual by a mile. “Sweet dude. Funny and wicked smart according to Gen. Shit luck with guys though,” she adds pointedly.

Jensen opens his mouth to insist that isn’t what he meant - even though it totally is - when there’s a knock on his closed door. Jeff smiles at Danni when he pokes his head inside then looks at Jensen. “Hey, you got a second?” he asks.

Jensen nods and waves one hand toward the other chair in front of his desk. “’course, c’mon in.”

Jeff grins at him then glances at Danni again. “Jared’s in my office, Dan. Can you go keep him company for a few?”

“Sure thing, JD,” she smiles then blows a kiss at Jensen. “C-ya, Jen.”

Jensen smiles at her then turns his attention to his former mentor. “Sorry if she was supposed to be workin’.”

“Nonsense,” Jeff dismisses, waving a hand. “So, I… I wanted to talk to you about something,” he goes on and Jensen doesn’t think he’s ever heard Jeff sound so hesitant. “It’s, ah, it’s a personal matter and may sound a little out-there…”

“Jeff,” Jensen interrupts softly, smiling brightly. “Whatever it is, just spit it out.”

“Jared… He’s like a son to me,” Jeff says, soft and fond, almost as if he’s talking to himself. “But he’s had a really hard time, especially lately. String of terrible luck with relationships, guys who treat him like shit and walk all over him. I just… I was hoping that you’d take him out, to dinner or something, and show him that not all guys are complete assholes.”

Jensen’s brow furrows and he sits back in his chair. It seems odd that a guy of Jared’s size would let people walk all over him. “He’s… He didn’t used to be this way,” Jeff continues, shaking his head. “Growin’ up, the kid had confidence in spades. But, I don’t know, once he got to college and ended up in one bad relationship after another, it kinda ruined his self-esteem, I think. He doesn’t believe that he deserves any better than what he gets.”

“That’s terrible,” Jensen says softly.

“Yeah,” Jeff snorts out a humorless laugh. “You don’t know the half of it.”

“What?” Jensen urges.

“The last one… Real piece of shit. We just got Jared out of the hospital three weeks ago.”

Jensen instantly sees red, his blood boiling. “Did they catch the fucker?” he grits out.

“No, unfortunately he’d already taken off before the cops got there. There’s a warrant out for him and I filed a restraining order for Jared but…” he trails off, shrugging one shoulder. Jensen doesn’t need him to continue, he’s seen enough of these kinds of cases to know how this will most likely end and it’s not good. “Anyway,” Jeff sighs, scrubbing one hand over his beard. “You’re a great guy, the kinda guy I’d love to see Jared with. And I don’t… I don’t wanna put any pressure on you or anything but I think Jared needs this. He just needs to know that there are decent people in the world and that he’s worthy of being with one.”

Jensen had honestly decided to give dating a break for a while after his own string of horrible dates and relationships. Sure, he’s never had the problems Jared has had but he’d just gotten sick of stupid, shallow men that only wanted him for his face or his wallet. But having seen Jared, and heard his story, he’s definitely willing to change his mind. Besides, it’s not like it would be a hardship to take Jared on a date. Or two. Or twelve.

Jensen smiles at Jeff and pushes himself out of his chair, rounding the desk and squeezing Jeff’s shoulder as he comes to a stop next to him. “I’d love to.”

“It… It might not be easy, Jensen,” Jeff warns. “Not that I blame the kid, but he’s seriously gun-shy right now,” Jeff pauses, heaving out a small sigh. “Why don’t you come for dinner tonight? Maybe it’ll be easier on him at home with me and Sherri there and it’ll give y’all a chance to get to know each other a bit? If you’re not busy, that is.”

“No, ‘m not busy at all,” Jensen smiles. “I’d love to come.”

~=~=~=~=~=

Jeff smiles to himself as he slips out of Jensen’s office and heads down the hall to his own. Phase two complete.

He stops just outside the partially open door to his office and listens to the sound of Jared’s unrestrained laugh, his heart warming at the sound. It’s been so long since he heard it. He peaks in the room, grinning when he sees Danni perched on the edge of his desk, her dark eyes glinting with mischief and merriment as she leans closer to Jared, obviously in the middle of some elaborate story, complete with huge hand gestures and exaggerated faces. The fiery red-head bursts out laughing when she finishes her tale and Jared laughs again.

Danni looks up when Jeff enters and quickly slides off the desk, winking at Jared as she passes. Jeff grins at her and she nods before heading out to her own desk.

“So,” Jeff starts once he takes a seat, glancing up at Jared. “You think you and your momma will feel like havin’ some company for dinner tonight?”

“You’re hardly company, JD,” Jared snorts, shaking his head.

“Hm, true,” Jeff agrees. “So hey, ‘m pretty much done for the day, why don’t we head on home?”

Jared shrugs one shoulder and follows him out. Once they get back to Sherri’s house, Jared heads upstairs and Jeff corners Sherri in the kitchen. “We’re havin’ company for dinner tonight,” he informs her without preamble.

“You know that you don’t actually live here, right Jeffery?” she teases.

“Ha, you’re hilarious,” he deadpans. “But ‘m serious. I invited one of my colleagues over for dinner…”

“JD,” she sighs. “What’re you doin’?”

“’s ok, Sher, I promise. Jensen’s a great guy…”

“Jared doesn’t need you interfering and introducing him to guys,” she interrupts. “What he needs is to take some time and get over all this shit…”

“What Jared needs is to realize that not all guys are assholes,” Jeff counters.

“Does this Jensen guy know Jared’s history?”

“Some of it,” Jeff admits. “But not all. It’s not my story to tell. C’mon, Sher, you know that I’d never do anything to hurt him. And like I said, Jensen’s a great guy. I think he’d be good for Jared.”

Sherri gives him a tired, sad smile and sighs. “I just want him to be happy,” she whispers. “To find someone who’ll love him and take care of him and treat him right.”

Jeff mirrors her smile and pulls her into a hug. “Me too, darlin’,” he drawls, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “And I think Jensen’s the right guy.”

“So what’s the deal here?”

“I asked Jensen to come over for dinner so he could get to know Jared. They met briefly at the office and Jensen agreed to take him out on a date, to try and help build his self-confidence back up. But honestly, I think once they get to know each other a little, it’ll turn out to be more. I honestly think they’re perfect for each other.”

“Are you… playing matchmaker?” Sherri asks slowly, blinking owlishly for a moment before breaking out into loud giggles. “Holy crap you are! Jeff, that’s so… Oh, my God, that’s hilarious.”

“Shuddup, woman,” Jeff mutters, fighting a laugh himself. It’s good to see her smiling and laughing again. It’s been so long, almost as long as Jared.

~=~=~=~=~=

Jared stops short in the doorway to the dining room, looking between his mom, JD and the - absolutely gorgeous - guy from JD’s office, a confused frown pulling down his lips. Jeff glances up and smiles when he sees Jared, waving one hand toward the empty seat at the table. “JT,” he says fondly. “C’mon in, son. You remember Jensen don’t you?”

The guy - Jensen - smiles brightly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Hi, Jared. Nice to see you again.”

Jared nods numbly and forces himself to move, to take the seat Jeff indicated. His momma smiles softly at him and grabs his fingers when he sits down, giving them a gentle squeeze. Jared’s completely confused, looking between the three other people at the table, getting the distinct feeling that he’s been left out of something. It’s not uncommon for Jeff to come over and have dinner with them but he’s never brought someone from work with him before.

Jeff and Jensen keep trying to engage him in conversation and it’s only the fact that his momma is right there and taught him good manners that have Jared replying back to them. As it is, he can only manage short, mostly one or two word answers.

To his horror, after dessert, his mom and JD leave him alone with Jensen, his momma saying something about needing Jeff’s help with something out in the garage.

Jensen smiles at him, that same bright, brilliant one and Jared doesn’t know what to do or what to say. Guys like Jensen don’t ever give Jared the time of day, let alone be this nice to him.

“So, your mom and Jeff were telling me that you’re a teacher.”

Jared nods and plays with his fork, not really looking at Jensen. “Um, yeah,” he says softly. “My momma teaches English and I… I guess I wanted to be like her.”

“That’s great,” Jensen says around a smile. “Teachers are so underappreciated. It’s an honorable profession.”

Jared feels a blush creeping across his cheeks and dips his head down, hiding behind his bangs. “I don’t make a lot of money,” he whispers. “And ‘s not like ‘m a doctor or a lawyer or anything. I was just good at English ‘cause’a my momma…”

“’m sure that’s not true,” Jensen cuts in gently. “Hey, Jared,” Jensen says after a few moments of uncomfortable silence. Jared glances up, his cheeks heating even more when he sees that Jensen is staring right at him. “Would you like to go out with me tomorrow night?”

Jared frowns, convinced this is some kind of joke. There’s no way that a guy like Jensen would really want to go out with him. “Huh? Why?” Jared blurts out.

Jensen chuckles softly and the sound makes Jared’s stomach turn to goo. “Because I’d like to get to know you better, for one thing,” Jensen says softly.

“I don’t… I don’t understand,” Jared whispers. “’m nothin’ special.”

“I think you are,” Jensen argues gently.

Suddenly, like a light bulb going off, Jared gets it. “JD put you up to this, didn’t he?”

“No,” Jensen says quickly. “I mean, he invited me here but this is all me. I wanna take you out, have a nice dinner and maybe see a movie or something.” He pauses, shooting Jared another one of those smiles. “C’mon, what’d’ya say? Go out with me?”

Jared honestly doesn’t know why he does it but he hears himself muttering a soft, barely-there, “Yes.” Jensen’s smile gets impossibly bigger and Jared wants so badly to believe that all this is real.

~=~=~=~=~=

Even though Jensen had initially agreed to ask Jared out because Jeff asked him to, as soon as he actually spent some time with him, Jensen knew it was more than that. When he asked Jared out, he wasn’t even thinking of Jeff’s request or anything else aside from wanting the chance to get to know the quiet younger man better.

Sherri smiles at him when she opens the door, her eyebrows raised. “Jensen, hi. I, uh, I wasn’t expecting you.” She pauses and waves her hand toward him, flushing slightly. “Please, c’mon in.”

Jensen nods and follows her into the house. “Jared didn’t mention that we were going out tonight?”

“No, dear, he didn’t,” Sherri says softly, a little sadly, patting his arm. “C’mon, he’s in the living room.”

Jensen nods and follows behind her, trying not to feel hurt or disappointed that Jared didn’t mention the fact that they had a date to his mom. Jared glances up when they walk into the room, his eyes widening in shock. “J-jensen,” he mutters, running one hand through his messy hair. “Wha- What’re you doin’ here?”

Jensen frowns, his heart plummeting into his stomach. “We have plans tonight, remember?” he asks softly.

Jared blinks owlishly, a mostly blank look on his face. “You were serious?”

“Of course I was serious.” Jensen barely notices when Sherri silently slips from the room, obviously wanting to give them a bit of privacy. “What’s wrong, Jared?” he continues softly. “Is this… I mean, did you want to postpone it? Maybe go another night?”

Jared glances down at himself - at the sweats and old t-shirt he is wearing - then looks back up at Jensen. “I… I didn’t think you really meant it,” he whispers.

Jensen smiles softly and steps further into the room, taking a seat on the couch next to Jared’s hip. “I meant it,” he says softly. “Very much. If you don’t want to go out, we could stay here, maybe have dinner and watch a movie?” Jensen half-asks. He doesn’t miss the look of relief on Jared’s face.

“I, uh… Yeah, ok, I guess. If you really want to…”

“I do,” Jensen interrupts gently, smiling at Jared as he reaches over to grab the younger man’s hand. “Think your momma will mind?”

“No,” Jared mutters. “She, um, she’ll probably either stay in her room or go see JD.”

Jensen smiles and nods, pushing himself up off the couch and gently tugs on Jared’s hand, urging him to do the same. He holds Jared’s hand as he leads them to the kitchen, only letting go when Jared pulls away to move to the refrigerator. “So, JD and your mom…” Jensen trails off, eyebrows raised.

To his delight, Jared chuckles softly. “They’re not dating or anything,” he says softly as he takes the stuff out of the fridge to make a salad and a casserole dish. “My dad and JD were friends forever. When he got sick and died, JD promised him that he’d look after us. And he has.”

Jensen takes a seat at the table, watching Jared move around the kitchen, thrilled that the younger man is actually talking to him. “Jeff’s a great guy,” he says fondly. “He was my mentor when I graduated from law school and started at the firm. I learned a lot from him and we got to be pretty good friends.”

“Yeah,” Jared smiles, showing off a hint of dimples that make Jensen’s heart skip a beat, “He’s a really great guy. I’d be… Hell, I’d be an even bigger mess than I am if it wasn’t for him.”

Jensen frowns, hating the self-depreciation he can hear in Jared’s tone. “You’re not a mess…” he starts softly.

Jared snorts out a humorless laugh as he pops the casserole dish into the oven to warm. “You don’t even know me,” he says. “So you can’t know that.”

“I don’t know a lot about you, you’re right,” Jensen agrees. “But I want to get to. But I don’t really need to know you that well to know that you’re not a mess.”

Jared shakes his head and focuses on making the salad. “I hope lasagna is ok,” he murmurs. “Momma made it day before yesterday.”

“That’s fine,” Jensen smiles.

They spend dinner getting to know each other a little better. Jared’s slow to open up but Jensen doesn’t relent, constantly asking questions while answering the few that Jared asks. It’s a nice dinner, sometimes a little awkward, but underneath his shy, closed-off exterior, Jensen can tell that Jared is an awesome guy and he really, really wants to spend more time with him.

After dinner, they settle in the living room again and Jared finds the first Die Hard movie on cable and Jensen’s heart melts a little more when Jared lets out an excited sound and practically beams when he says it’s one of his favorite movies. Jensen’s seen it a million and one times but they still sit together and watch, Jensen smiling so hard his cheeks hurt as Jared mouths along with the dialogue during certain parts.

It’s near midnight when the movie ends and Jensen honestly doesn’t want to leave even though he knows he has to. Jared smiles shyly when Jensen turns toward him and grabs his hand again, glancing up at him through his lashes and his bangs. “I had a really great time tonight,” Jensen says softly, sincerely.

“You did?” Jared whispers.

“Yeah, I did,” Jensen smiles, “And I’d love to do it again. Maybe tomorrow night?”

Jared smiles, showing off those adorably sexy dimples. “I’d like that,” he mutters. “I… I’ll even believe that you’re serious and I’ll be ready this time,” he adds teasingly.

Jensen grins and leans forward, pressing a kiss to Jared’s cheek before he even realizes he’s going to do it. “Shit,” he breathes. “’m sorry… I don’t,” he sighs, “I don’t wanna rush or anything…”

“’s ok,” Jared whispers, his cheeks flushed red. “Thanks for tonight, Jensen. I had a lot of fun, too.”

Jared walks him to the door, leaning against the frame as Jensen walks to his car. Jared smiles and waves when Jensen glances back at him and Jensen feels his heart swoop down into his stomach. He doesn’t know how anyone can treat Jared badly; he’s truly an amazing, beautiful man.

~=~=~=~=~=

Even though Jared promised he’d believe that Jensen would show up the next night, he’s still surprised when it actually happens. Jeff and his mom smile knowingly when Jensen grabs Jared’s hand, twining their fingers together and leading him out the front door.

They have dinner at a steak house that Jared’s never been to and Jensen takes him to an art museum. They walk around for hours, fingers entwined and talking softly about the pieces of art on display. It’s the best night that Jared can remember having in a really long time. Jensen drops him off at home, asking him out again for the next night and kisses Jared’s cheek again when he agrees.

He’s not sure why, but Jensen seems to actually like him, so he just figures he’ll take what he can get while he can get it. At least when Jensen gets to know the real him and runs for the hills, Jared will have a few good memories.

Before he knows it, three weeks have passed and he’s been out with Jensen almost every night. Sometimes they’ll just go to the bar and grab a beer and watch the game and sometimes Jensen will take him to these really nice restaurants and the movies or a museum or a concert. If Jared had to define it, he’d say that it seems like they’re dating but that’s just ridiculous. Jensen is an amazing guy and those kinds of guys don’t go for Jared. And the greatest thing is that Jensen isn’t just beautiful on the outside, he’s beautiful inside as well.

They hold hands or Jensen will put his arm around Jared’s shoulders or waist and every night when he drops him off at home, he kisses Jared on the cheek. Jared knows it’s dangerous, but he’s falling hard and fast for Jensen, knows that he’s just going to get his heart broken again like always.

Jensen’s hand on the small of his back brings him out of his thoughts and he smiles softly when he glances at Jensen. “You ok, Jay?” he asks softly.

“Mmhmm,” Jared hums, smiling when Jensen reaches down and grabs his hand.

They’re walking along the sidewalk away from the restaurant Jensen took him to - a really fancy Italian place - and heading toward Jensen’s house, which is just a few blocks away. Jared frowns when he catches a glimpse of what he thinks is a familiar face, his blood running cold when he gets a better look and realizes that it is Justin, his ex that he was living with right before he meet Jensen, the ex that had put him in the hospital.

He whimpers and squeezes Jensen’s hand tighter, trying to hide behind the older man’s smaller frame before Justin sees him. Jensen stops, his eyes full of concern. “Jare? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Jared whispers. “Can we just… Can we hurry up and get to your place?” He just wants to be off the street and someplace safe.

Jensen’s frown deepens but he nods, pulling Jared closer to his side. “Yeah, ok,” he says softly.

Before they even make it a block away though, Justin notices him and his eyes narrow, his gaze dropping down to their joined hands. Jared tries to pull away from Jensen, not wanting to get his friend involved with this but Jensen just holds on tighter, obviously not noticing the glare that they’re receiving. “Hey, c’mon,” he says gently, “Tell me what’s wrong?”

“My ex,” Jared whispers, his gaze darting to Justin without consent from his brain. After a lot of coaxing from Jensen - and reassurance from his momma and Jeff - Jared told Jensen about some of his past. Not the really gritty details but enough that Jensen knows what’s going on and can truly get that fact that Jared is useless and not worth the effort and broken.

“The last one?” Jensen asks, his lips pulled into a thin line and a definite growl to his tone. Jared nods weakly. Jensen pulls Jared against his side and presses a kiss to the corner of his lips, ignoring Jared’s panicked noise and struggles to get away. “Shh,” he coos. “’s ok, baby. ‘m not gonna let anything happen, I swear.”

To Jared’s horror, Jensen walks right up to Justin, a fake smile on his lips but his eyes full of fire and anger. Jared’s only seen him like that a few times, when he’s talking about prosecuting the scumbags that hurt other people. “You have ‘til the count of three to get the hell away from us,” Jensen grits out, standing tall in front of Jared.

“And just what the fuck’re you gonna do?” Justin snorts. “You’re the one touching what’s mine.”

“Well, first of all, I know for a fact that being this close to Jared you’re violating the restraining order that was filed against you. And I have a hell of a lot of friends on the police force that’ll not only be here in minutes but will overlook the fact that I’ve rearranged your face for you. And second. Jared’s not yours, asshole. He never was,” Jensen pauses, leaning closer, “He’s mine now, you worthless piece of shit.”

Jared stares wide-eyed as Justin lunges for Jensen, frozen and helpless. Jensen smirks and dodges the hit, grabbing Justin’s wrist and twisting his arm up behind his back. Jensen turns to Jared and gives him a reassuring smile. “Jay? Baby? Call Jeff and let him know that I’ve got this asshole here. He’ll call Jim and they’ll come take care of it.”

Jared nods numbly and fishes his phone out of his pocket, still staring at Jensen and a struggling Justin, blindly hitting the speed dial for Jeff.

“Hey, JT,” Jeff answers. “What’s up?”

“Jensen has Justin,” Jared whispers. “Call Jim.”

It’s a blur after that, police literally getting there within minutes, along with Jeff. The cops aren’t even a little gentle with Justin, cuffing him too tight and looking the other way when Jensen ‘accidently’ punches him in the stomach. Jeff stands next to Jared the whole time, a fatherly hand on his shoulder.

“Why’s Jensen doing this?” Jared whispers.

“’cause he cares about you, son,” Jeff says softly, kindly. “No way was he gonna let that asshole get to you.”

“H-he told Justin that ‘m his,” Jared mutters, blushing.

Jeff chuckles fondly and pulls Jared into a one-armed hug. “Well of course he did. You two have been dating for weeks, JT.”

Before Jared can say anything else, Jensen finishes up with the cops and rushes over to his side, emerald-green eyes wide. “You ok, Jare?” he asks softly, reaching up one hand and cupping the side of Jared’s face, his thumb brushing softly over Jared’s cheekbone.

Jeff claps them both on the shoulders and smiles at Jared. “’m gonna leave you with your boyfriend now, kiddo. Don’t worry, I’ll call Sherri and let her know what’s going on.”

Jensen smiles at Jeff and nods before turning back to Jared. “Jay? Sweetheart?”

“Are you my boyfriend?” Jared blurts out, cringing when he realizes what he said.

But Jensen just smiles brighter and pulls Jared into his arms, not caring about the people still milling around or the cops still there finishing up arresting Justin. “Well, I’d like to think so,” Jensen shrugs one shoulder, his hands rubbing up and down Jared’s back. “But that’s only if you want me to be, of course,” Jensen adds.

“I don’t… Why?” Jared asks softly. “Jensen… You can have anyone. Why the hell would you want me?”

Jensen licks his lips and pulls away enough to get Jared walking again but keeps one arm around his waist. “Honestly, I think that you’re pretty fuckin’ amazing,” Jensen replies, soft but firm, earnest. “You’re so smart and funny and you have the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met.” Jensen pauses when they get to his place and Jared tries to calm the frantic beating of his heart while Jensen unlocks the door and lets them inside. Once the door is closed behind them, he takes Jared’s hand, his thumb smoothing over Jared’s knuckles. “Not to mention the fact that you’re completely freaking gorgeous,” he adds.

~=~=~=~=~=

A light pink blush creeps across Jared’s high cheekbones and he ducks his head, hiding behind the curtain of his bangs. Jensen frowns and cups Jared’s jaw with his free hand, gently tipping his head back up. “What?” he urges softly.

“I… ‘m not,” Jared argues. “’m nothin’ special, Jensen. And you… You deserve someone as amazing as you.”

Jensen smiles and leads them into his living room, pulling Jared down on the couch with him. “Well, then it’s just a damn good thing that my boyfriend is amazing, isn’t it?”

“Jensen,” Jared frowns.

“’m serious, Jared,” Jensen insists. He leans forward, his hand sliding over Jared’s cheek, and brushes their lips together, soft and chaste. He’s been taking it slow with Jared, nothing but holding hands or occasionally his arm around Jared and quick kisses to his cheek, in the entire three weeks that they’ve been dating. It’s seriously been one of the hardest things he’s ever had to do. Jared’s drop-dead gorgeous and Jensen wants so much to hold him and kiss him breathless and take away the pain he still sees in Jared’s eyes. “You deserve so much,” Jensen whispers. “Let me show you? Let me prove to you how awesome things can be?”

To his surprise, Jared relaxes in his arms and nods. “I… I want to, Jensen, I really do. You… God, you’re so… You’re sweet and perfect and I just… I mess things up…” Jared trails off, his gaze moving to the far wall, unseeing. Jensen doesn’t say anything, just gives Jared whatever time he needs to get out whatever he needs to say. “I was sixteen when I figured out that I was gay,” Jared eventually continues, tone soft, his eyes faraway. “I was scared shitless, man. But momma and Jeff… They were awesome. Completely supportive and I knew that they’d love me no matter what. Other people though? Not so much. I-I didn’t really hide it but I didn’t make it well known either, ya know? But in the middle of my senior year, our basketball team played a game against the school a few towns over and I met this guy, Derek. He was… I thought he was so hot,” Jared chuckles softly, “And we started dating in secret. A few of my teammates caught us though. I mean, we weren’t really doing anything. We’d just left the diner and I kissed him,” Jared pauses, swallows thickly.

“He… he denied everything. Said that I came on to him and all this shit. I spent the rest of my senior year basically shunned. A few of my friend stuck by me but I lost most of them, ended up quitting basketball. I thought things would get better when I went to college. And they did for a bit. I met a few nice guys, never really anything serious, just enjoying being young and kinda exploring my sexuality in a more open environment. My sophomore year, I met Eric. We were… I guess things were good at first but he was really critical over everything I did. He hated my friends and insisted that majoring in English and being a teacher was a waste, that I should be doing something to make better money. It got worse, he became critical of me personally, my clothes and my body and… Just, everything.” Jared sighs and his eyes slide closed for a second.

“My best friend Chad, who is one of the only people who stuck with me through everything, tried to talk me into dumping him, telling me how much of a douche he was but I was 19 and I thought I was in love. I found out after we’d been together a year that he was cheating on me, pretty much the whole time with some chick that was pre-med.”

Jensen clears his too tight throat and squeezes his arms around Jared, silently supporting him as best as he can. “It was just more of the same shit after that. Every guy that was interested, they ended up being complete assholes. I thought I’d finally broken the streak when I met Justin. He… He was amazing at first, so sweet and attentive. For like the first three months. After that, his true colors came out. He got jealous of Chad, who is straight as an arrow by the way. The, uh, the first time he hit me, he apologized and said that it wouldn’t happen again and all that clichéd shit. And like the dumbass that I am, I believed him. I spent six months like that. The last night, I was trying to leave. I told him that I was done with his shit and that I wanted out. He told me that he’d kill me before he let that happen. I honestly don’t remember a lot of it after that, effects of the concussion according to the doctors.”

He stops again and looks at Jensen for the first time since he started talking. “So you see? There’s nothing special about me, Jensen.”

“Well, I disagree,” Jensen says softly. “I think that the fact that you survived all that and can still see the beauty in the world around you, can still see the good in people even if you can’t see it in yourself, shows how special you really are. You survived some really shitty stuff, sweetheart. It makes you a lot stronger than you realize.”

Jensen pulls him impossibly closer, his arms wrapped tight around Jared’s waist. He wants so badly to believe Jensen, to let himself actually have what seems to be being offered to him and not question it. But if his past has taught him anything, it’s that he’s not worth it.

Jensen licks his lips and leans forward, kissing Jared again. Jared gasps when the tip of Jensen’s tongue slides over the seam of his lips, slips just barely inside, brushing against his own. “You are the most beautiful man I’ve ever met,” Jensen whispers between kisses, “both inside and out. I want… Shit, I want so much, baby. But mostly, I just want to spend however long you’ll let me showing you that you’re worth so much.” Jensen pulls back and cups his cheeks in both hands, staring deep into Jared’s eyes. “I have never lied to you,” he says soft and firm, “And I will never hurt you. Give me a chance, Jared. Give us a chance.”

Jared’s eyes slide closed and he drops his forehead to rest against Jensen’s, sighing softly when thick, strong fingers slip back into his hair. “Ok,” he breathes. He can’t lie and say that he doesn’t want Jensen and whatever Jensen is offering. He knows everything now and he hasn’t run screaming in the other direction. Maybe, just maybe, Jensen’s being honest and really does want him. Jensen’s right, he’s never lied to Jared and has been nothing short of amazing and perfect since the very first time he met him.

“Ok?” Jensen repeats, pulling back enough to look at Jared.

“Yeah,” Jared smiles, inhaling deeply, exhaling slowly.

Jensen freaking beams at him and pulls him into a hug. “Awesome,” he breathes.

At Jensen’s insistence, they still take things slowly after their little talk. Jensen takes him out almost every night that he’s not busy with work. It’s the best relationship that Jared’s ever had - even though that’s not saying a lot, the bar is pretty low - but Jensen continues to be completely wonderful.

Jared’s only complaint is the lack of a physical relationship between them. They’ll kiss, sometimes for hours, until Jared’s dizzy with want and so hard it’s painful, but Jensen won’t take it further. Jared’s too embarrassed to bring it up - those insecurities that he’s trying so hard to let go of lingering in the back of his mind, telling him that if Jensen was interested in him that way, it would’ve happened already. It’s not like Jared hasn’t tried. But Jensen will smile gently and push him away or just cuddle Jared up against his side, holding him like he’s something fragile and precious.

Jared wants more. He may still be a little messed up from his past - he’s getting better with Jensen’s help - but he’s got a smoking hot boyfriend and he wants Jensen so bad he can practically taste it.

Before Jared even realizes it, they’ve been together six months, and aside from the sex, or lack of, things are perfect. He’s stopped wondering when Jensen’s going to come to his senses and see that Jared’s not worth it and leave, believes it when Jensen says he’ll be there for as long as Jared wants him. Jared moves out of his momma’s house, finds a nice little apartment a few shorts blocks from Jensen’s house and he’s finally starting to feel good about his life and himself again for the first time since he was 17.

Now, he just needs to figure out a way to get Jensen to have sex with him and he’ll be golden.

He’s got a key to Jensen’s house - he spends more time there than his apartment anyway - so he lets himself in and starts making a nice, homemade romantic dinner. Jensen won’t be home for a few hours yet so Jared’s got time to set things up - and too much time on his hands to worry. He makes chicken alfredo and garlic mashed potatoes and a salad and even makes his momma’s special strawberry cheesecake for dessert.

Jensen smiles when he gets home from work, part happy to see Jared, part in confusion. But Jared just shakes his head and leads his boyfriend into the rarely used dining room and serves dinner, blushing slightly when Jensen moans in appreciation and eats every bite.

“Not that ‘m not happy you’re here and did all this,” Jensen says softly once the table has been cleared and they’re sharing a piece of cheesecake - Jensen pulling his chair closer and feeding him bites in between taking his own - “But what’s the occasion?”

“No occasion,” Jared replies quietly, tentatively sliding his hand over Jensen’s knee under the table. “Just… Just wanted to do something nice for you for a change,” he shrugs.

Jensen smiles and leans forward, pressing a sweet, sticky kiss to his lips. “Thank you,” he breathes. “This was awesome. Seriously.”

They curl up on the couch with the TV on low - some black and white B monster movie that Jared’s not even paying attention to - and Jared sinks into Jensen’s side, mesmerized how even though he’s got a good three or four inches and at least 20 pounds on Jensen that they seem to fit together so perfectly; the spot under Jensen’s arm, against his side, like it was made just for Jared.

“So I was thinkin’,” Jared says softly, idly fiddling with the hem of Jensen’s t-shirt.

“Mmhmm?” Jensen hums in question.

“’s Friday,” Jared clears his throat and glances up at Jensen through his lashes, “I was thinkin’ that I could spend the night,” he says softly, quickly. “If you want,” he adds, cheeks burning-hot with nerves and embarrassment. He may spend more time here than his own apartment, but that time has never included spending the night.

Jensen looks down at him, his plump lips parted softly, his green eyes wide behind his glasses. Jensen rarely wears his glasses - prefers contacts - but Jared loves them on him. “Are you… I mean, sure,” Jensen mutters, the hand not curled around Jared’s waist rubbing at the back of his neck. “If you want.”

“Not,” Jared sighs, “Not just if I want. I do,” he insists. “Do you?”

“Yeah,” Jensen breathes, licking his lips, his teeth scraping over the bottom one. Even though neither of them has outright said it, they both know that Jared means more than just ‘spending the night’. “Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Jared whispers, forcing himself not to break the eye contact. “I… I want you, Jensen,” he murmurs, voice still low enough that he’s afraid Jensen might not hear him even as close as they are. “I… I love you.”

“I love you, too,” Jensen replies softly, dipping down to press a kiss to Jared’s lips. “Love you so much. I wasn’t… Shit, Jay, I haven’t wanted to rush things, rush you, but God,” he breathes, “I want you so much.”

Jared pushes impossibly closer, his hand sliding over Jensen’s stomach. “Me too,” he rasps. “Have since the first time you kissed me at my momma’s house,” he admits.

Jensen’s grin is dirty and predatory and it makes Jared tremble. “Wanted you from the first time Jeff introduced us,” Jensen counters, dipping his head, his lips sliding over Jared’s jaw, down to his neck.

Jared drops his head back, moaning softly as Jensen’s lips and tongue, just a hint of teeth, trail a line of hot, fiery kisses back to the sensitive skin behind his ear. “Please,” he gasps, his fingers clenching and unclenching in the soft cotton of Jensen’s t-shirt. “Oh, God… Jensen, please.”

“Ok,” Jensen soothes. “’s ok. C’mon.”

~=~=~=~=~=

Jensen pushes himself up off the couch and grabs Jared’s hand, pulling him up as well. He pulls Jared into his arms and presses another kiss to his lips. “If we… If things get to be too much, or I do something you don’t want…”

“I’ll tell you,” Jared interrupts softly. “I want this, you.”

Jensen nods and squeezes his arms around Jared. “Ok,” he murmurs.

When they get inside Jensen’s bedroom, Jared seems to stall out for a second, standing in the middle of the room, nervously chewing on his bottom lip. “Jay?” Jensen asks softly.

“Hmm?”

“You ok?”

“Yeah,” Jared sighs. “I just… I don’t know what the hell to do,” he blurts out, his cheeks flushing pink.

Jensen smiles and palms Jared’s cheek, his heart warming when Jared leans into the touch and his eyes slide closed. “’s ok, sweetheart,” Jensen murmurs. “Just… Trust me, ok? I’ll take care’a you. I promise.”

Jared nuzzles into Jensen’s hand and reopens his eyes. “I do trust you,” Jared whispers. “’m just. ‘m nervous.”

“We don’t have’ta do anything tonight,” Jensen says softly. “We can just go to sleep. Or whatever you’re comfortable with.”

“No that’s not,” Jared huffs out a sigh, “’m not nervous ‘bout that. I know that I want you. I just… I just want it to be good for you,” he admits quietly.

“Baby, no matter what we do, it’ll be amazing.”

“’m not… good at this, Jen.”

Jensen bites down on the inside of his jaw, not for the first time wishing that he could track down all the assholes that hurt Jared, that made him think that he’s worthless or anything less than perfect. “Why don’t you let me be the judge’a that?”

Jared dips his head in a barely-there nod and shuffles closer to Jensen, their bodies pressed together from chests to hips. Jensen gently tangles both hands in Jared’s silky-soft, messy waves and pulls him down into a kiss. He keeps it slow and chaste at first, just barely brushing their lips together for a few moments. When he feels Jared relax against him completely, he increases the pressure slightly and nudges the seam of Jared’s lips with the tip of his tongue. He moans softly when Jared opens up to him, their tongues sliding together, the kiss quickly turning heated, passionate.

Jensen slides one hand down Jared’s back and shoves the hem of his t-shirt up just enough to get beneath, his cock twitching at the first feel of warm, baby-soft skin. Jared moans against his lips, his arms sliding around Jensen’s shoulders, one huge hand palming the back of his head as they continue to kiss, the slide of lips and tongues getting more frantic and sloppy.

Jensen finally pulls away enough to whisper against Jared’s lips, “Can I take this off?”

Jared nods and raises his arms up, letting Jensen pull his t-shirt up and off, tossing it blindly over his shoulder. His breath catches in his throat, his mouth watering at the sight of tan skin covering rippling muscle. “Holy fuck,” he rasps, one hand trailing down over Jared’s pecs, to the ridiculously perfect six-pack abs, over the sinfully-sweet cut of his hips just barely peeking out above the waist of his low-slung jeans. He’s never seen Jared naked - or half-naked - before. He knew that he’d be ripped but this is just mesmerizing.

Jared blushes again, dropping his head slightly. “No,” Jensen mutters. “Don’t hide from me?” he half-asks. “You… Fuck, Jared. You’re fuckin’ gorgeous.”

Instead of arguing like Jensen expects him to, Jared drops his hands to the hem of Jensen’s shirt and tugs a bit. “You too?”

Jensen nods and rips his own shirt off, tossing it on the floor with Jared’s. His boyfriend’s eyes widen and soft, tentative fingers slide over his - less defined - chest and abs. “Wow,” Jared breathes. “You… You’re beautiful,” he whispers.

Before Jensen can say anything, Jared leans down and presses an open-mouthed kiss on his collarbone, trailing his lips down slightly and presses another kiss to his heart. It’s such a sweet gesture, and so purely Jared, that it makes Jensen’s heart skip a beat or two. “Can we lie down?” Jared asks quietly. “Knees kinda feel like they’re about to give out on me,” he adds, chuckling softly.

Jensen honestly feels the same way so he grabs Jared’s wrist and tugs him over to the bed and gently pushes him down onto the edge of the mattress. Jensen drops to his knees and settles between Jared’s spread legs, his hands curling around Jared’s lean hips.

Jared raises one hand up and brushes the tips of his fingers over Jensen’s nose, under his eye, tracing his freckles. They stare at each other silently as Jensen reaches down and blindly pulls off Jared’s socks, his fingers sliding over Jared’s ankles. Jared’s lips part softly and Jensen watches as his eyes darken, the ever-changing, champagne-hazel turning a dark, stormy green.

He slowly slides his hands up Jared’s calves and knees, groaning softly when he gets to his thick, firm thighs. Jared’s hips twitch forward just slightly and Jensen can see the bulge of his cock pressing against the front of his jeans when he glances down quickly. Jensen looks back up and raises one eyebrow in silent question as he slides one hand over the waist of Jared’s jeans, toying with the button.

Jared swallows thickly and nods, bracing himself on his palms behind him, lifting his hips just enough so that Jensen can undo his jeans and tug them down his long, muscular legs. “Damn, baby,” Jensen breathes, his own cock twitching at the sight of Jared in nothing but a pair of sinfully-tight black boxer briefs, the front tented obscenely, Jared’s impressively proportionate length more than obvious.

“Jen,” Jared whines, moving to sit up more.

Jensen presses a hand to the middle of his chest, keeping him halfway reclined back. “Wait,” he rasps. “Don’t. Lemme…” he trails off, dropping his head down into Jared’s lap, mouthing at his cock through the soft cotton.

Jared moans harshly, his thighs shaking around Jensen’s shoulders, his hips trembling with the urge to thrust. Jensen slides his lips up, mouthing at Jared cock-head, groaning softly at the hint of pre-come that he can taste through the material.

“Jensen,” Jared gasps, his cock twitching against Jensen’s lips.

Jensen pulls away and curls his fingers under the waist of Jared’s boxers. “Lift,” he urges softly, needing to get Jared completely naked, needing to taste him without the barrier between them. Jensen gently grabs the base of Jared’s cock and slides his lips over the head, digging his tongue into the slit, chasing after that salty-sweet flavor. Jared chokes on a broken moan of what sounds like his name, writhing beneath him.

He slips down further, taking more of Jared’s impressive length into his mouth, swallowing reflexively when the tip bumps against the back of his throat. Jared cries out, sitting up and frantically grabbing Jensen’s shoulder. “No, wait, stop…” he gasps. “Jensen, please… Gonna…”

Jensen hums in response, hollowing his cheeks and flicking his tongue against the thick vein and the sensitive bundle of nerves beneath the ridge. Jared moans again, his whole massive frame trembling, his cock jerking and pulsing against Jensen’s tongue as he explodes. Jensen swallows everything he has to give, moaning himself at the taste of Jared - sweet and salty, just slightly bitter.

Jared collapses back against the mattress, his chest heaving. Jensen pulls away, gently lapping his tongue over the sticky, softening length, smiling when Jared’s body twitches. He crawls up onto the mattress, ignoring his own length pressing against his zipper painfully to check on his boyfriend. Jared’s staring at the ceiling, his eyes a little glassy and unfocused still, his cheeks and chest flushed a delicate shade of pink. “You ok?” Jensen asks softly.

Jared rolls his head over to look at Jensen, misery beneath the left-over orgasmic haze. “’m sorry,” he whispers.

~=~=~=~=~=

Jensen frowns, his head tilted to the side. “What?” he rasps, his tone deep and thick and gravelly from having Jared’s length down his throat. “Why’re you sorry?”

“’cause I…” Jared trails off, feeling his cheeks heat up again, “Just felt too good, Jensen,” he settles on.

Jensen smiles and dips down, pressing a kiss to Jared’s lips. He can taste himself and it makes his stomach swoop like he’s on a rollercoaster. “I wanted to make you come,” Jensen drawls, whiskey-rough yet silky-smooth. “Wanted to see you fall apart for me.”

“But we…”

“Still can,” Jensen interrupts gently. “We can do whatever you want to, baby. I just… Had to get you in my mouth. So fuckin’ perfect, Jay. Taste so good.” Jensen drops his head and nips at the sensitive skin behind Jared’s ear. “’sides, that was just to take the edge off. Long as you’re ok with it, ‘m far from done with you tonight.” The promise behind those words, along with Jensen’s voice, makes Jared moan, his spent length twitching where it’s resting against his thigh, trying desperately to get hard again already.

Jared licks his lips and turns on his side, scooting closer to Jensen’s chest, running one hand down his ribs to his hip. He frowns when he feels demin under his fingers, his nose wrinkling. Jensen chuckles and presses a kiss to the tip of his nose. “What’s this look for?” he asks fondly.

“Take these off,” Jared murmurs, half-command, half-plea. “Want… Wanna see you, too.”

Jensen nods and pulls away enough to shimmy out of his jeans and boxer briefs and Jared’s heart feels like it’s going to pound out of his chest. Jensen is freaking breathtaking; lightly defined muscles under slightly pale, freckled skin, broad chest and shoulders that taper down to a lean waist, and his cock - thick and hard and leaking, for Jared - flushed red and curved up toward his abs.

Jared reaches out and lightly brushes the tips of his fingers up the underside of Jensen’s shaft. Jensen groans, his hips bucking forward. “You can touch,” he rasps. “God, I want you to touch.” Feeling slightly bolder, Jared wraps his fingers around Jensen and carefully strokes once, root to tip, instantly loving the weight and warmth of Jensen in his hand. “Fuck,” Jensen groans again, reaching one hand out and grabbing the back of Jared’s neck, pulling him into another mind-numbing, soul-searing kiss.

Being that this is their first time together doing anything, Jared knows that they should take it slow. But he’s waited a long damn time for this and he wants Jensen, all of Jensen. Reluctantly, he pulls away from the addictive slide of their lips and tongues, his forehead pressing against Jensen’s, one of Jensen’s hands buried in his hair. “Jen?”

“Hm?”

“Want’chu to fuck me,” Jared says softly, his eyes sliding closed.

“Jay…”

“’m serious,” Jared cuts him off gently. “I mean, if you don’t want to, that’s fine. But I really want that. If you do…”

Jensen grabs both sides of his face and gently pushes him backward so that he’s on his back, spread out, Jensen half on him, half on the mattress. Jared’s first instinct is to shy away from the intense, mesmerizing emerald-green stare but he makes himself keep looking, not wanting Jensen to doubt him or the sincerity of his words.

“I want you,” Jensen says pointedly. “So much. God, you have no fuckin’ clue how much. But I just… That’s a huge step, Jay. Are you… I wanna make sure that you’re completely sure. I don’t wanna rush you into anything.”

Jared smiles softly and reaches up, grabbing Jensen’s face, mirroring the hold Jensen has on him. “You’re amazing. And I… Thank you, for thinkin’ of me like that, for worryin’ about me. But I want this. I’ve been wanting it.”

Jensen licks his lips, quietly searching Jared’s eyes for a few moments before dipping his head in a nod. “Me too,” he whispers hoarsely. He pulls away and reaches over to the table next to the bed. Jared watches the play of muscles along his back, mesmerized for a moment by the shifting and bunching and flexing. Fuck but Jensen has an exquisite freaking back. He blinks slowly when Jensen turns back around, embarrassed at having been caught staring but Jensen just grins and presses a quick kiss to his lips.

Jensen shifts over until he’s settled between Jared’s legs, sitting back on his heels. He drops the condom he grabbed onto the mattress near Jared’s hip and flips open the tube of lube, pouring some over his fingers. Jared reaches down and grabs Jensen’s clean hand, twining their fingers together. Jensen glances up and smiles reassuringly at him. “You ready?” Jensen asks softly.

Jared nods, shifting his legs apart further, tilting his hips up to give Jensen better access. Jensen watches him intently as he drops his hand down, his fingers sliding over Jared’s balls, ghosting over the thin, sensitive skin behind before gently circling around his rim. Jared’s eyes widen and he gasps softly, just that barely-there touch enough to spend sparks of pleasure down his spine. He’s certainly not a blushing virgin but it’s been a long damn time since someone was so tender and sweet with him.

Jensen squeezes the fingers that they still have entwined and presses forward a little more, still not breaching the tight ring of muscle but certainly enough that Jared feels himself loosening up bit by bit.

“You ok?” Jensen murmurs.

Jared smiles and squeezes Jensen’s fingers back. “Yeah,” he breathes. “’m good. I… I can take more.”

Jensen slides the tip of one thick finger inside and Jared’s eyes flutter closed. When he was younger and actually had a few boyfriends and one-night-stands that were decent and took their time to make sure he enjoyed it, Jared always liked the feeling of being stretched, the inexplicable pleasure/pain from the burn, and the feeling of fullness. His last few relationships though, sex had become almost like a punishment, little to no prep, too rough and most of the time, when he wasn’t ready or didn’t even want it.

Jensen takes it slow and Jared can tell that he’s tight - it has been nearly eight months since the last time with Justin, the night before he almost killed Jared - and while it hurts a little, it still feels amazing and Jensen is so sweet and careful, every touch tender and gentle, like Jared’s made of spun glass.

By the time Jensen’s up to three fingers, Jared’s fully hard again, his cock leaking a steady, milky mix of come and pre-come, twitching every time Jensen rubs against his prostate or tugs gently at his rim. He’s squeezing Jensen’s other hand so hard he can feel his short, blunt fingernails digging into the back of his hand, knows that there are probably going to be little crescent-shaped indentions when he lets go.

“Jensen,” Jared gasps, his other hand clenching and unclenching around a sweaty fistful of the bed sheet, his thighs trembling, his whole freaking body aching for more. “Please.”

~=~=~=~=~=

Jensen licks his lips and gently untangles their fingers. Leaning over Jared, he presses a kiss to the side of his lips as he pulls his fingers out of Jared’s hole, shushing him softly when he whimpers. “’s ok,” he murmurs. “I got’cha.”

Jared swallows thickly and nods, his eyes wide and full of love and heat where he’s staring up at Jensen while he quickly rolls on the condom. He’s been on edge for what feels like forever, his cock aching, the touch of his own hand as he slicks more lube over himself enough to almost make him come.
