Title:
Infrangible RoadAuthor/Artist:
dayspringRating: R
Length/Word Count: 48,500
Warnings/Spoilers: Up to S2.
Summary: Infrangible \in-FRAN-juh-bul\ adjective -- not capable of being broken. Although the scenery changes, the path winds onward, and detours always lead back to the main road. A Supernatural Gen AU in which John raises his sons in Lawrence.
Reccer's Comments: This is the fic that made me fall in love with Dean all over again. It's a massive AU, but it still feels very true to the series. I love it because Dean's allowed to be smart, grounded, but still the smartass we know and love. And Dean and Sam's relationship is just awesome.
Reccer's Caveats: It's really majorly AU. Some mentions of torture off-screen. There is a relationship between Sam and Jess, but it's not the focus of the fic by any means and it's mostly off-screen.
Title:
Dead Dogs and Other Urban MythsAuthor/Artist:
pdragon76Rating: PG-13
Length/Word Count: Medium
Warnings/Spoilers: AU of 4.04 Metamorphosis.
Summary: When it comes to family, what sends you out the door is usually the same thing that brings you back.
Reccer's Comments: Nobody writes Dean as well as the Dragons. And cagey S4 Dean is no exception.
Title:
Lazarus Came ForthAuthor/Artist:
oselleRating: R
Length/Word Count: 73,316
Warnings/Spoilers: Serious angst, violence, some gore, heavily Dean-centric for most chapters. Spoilers through S3.
Summary: Dean returns from hell and finds himself alive and alone in the stark landscape of an America that has gone terribly wrong. Adrift in hostile territory and pursued by hell's bounty hunters, he sets out on a desperate hunt to find Sam. Apocafic and AU for everything after Season 3.
Reccer's Comments: This fic is epic! An amazing AU with great world building and some of the most best OCs I've ever read. Really worth a shot if you like apocafic where everything is so wrong but there's still hope because Sam and Dean are determined to make it work and they're together. An incredibly unique journey with gorgeous writing style. Highly recommended.
Reccer's Caveats: It contains a scene almost at the end that might be considered Sam/Dean but it's really brief.

Do Winchesters Dream Of Electric Impalas?Author:
kellifer_ficRating: PG (Language)
Length/Word Count: 10,906
Warnings/Spoilers: None.
Summary: Dean was made to be a Big Brother.
Reccer's Comments: Dean is a human-looking robot (think, AI: Artificial Intelligence) who is responsible for taking care of Sam. The premise is interesting and the execution well-done. And there's a nice substitute for the one-year-to-live deal with the crossroads demon.
Reccer's Caveats: In my opinion, Dean doesn't need to be a robot programmed to take care of Sam, purely human motivations are sufficient, however this is an interesting look at the 'what if'.

That Time, With the ThingAuthor/Artist:
schweedieRating: PG-13/T for language and references to PG-13 type stuff.
Length/Word Count: ~2000
Warnings/Spoilers: Spoilers through S3. Have a box of tissues handy.
Summary: Dean has some stuff to say, so he decides to give modern technology a chance.
Reccer's Comments: The first time I read this, I was still in denial about where S3 was going to go. "Denial" nuthin'. I couldn't even fathom it going there. I seem to remember crying my eyes out. Now that we're on the far side of S4, it has taken on a different kind of bittersweet melancholy.
Reccer's Caveats: Since this was written somewhere mid-S3, some of it has been Jossed or Kripke'd or whatever the appropriate term is in this fandom. That does nothing to take away from the overall poignancy of the piece.
Title:
That Which Does Not Kill YouAuthor/Artist: MistWraith
Rating: PG-13
Length/Word Count: 27,674
Warnings/Spoilers: Dark in some places. It's Hell. No spoilers for anything after 2.22
Summary: Dean gets himself out of Hell.
Reccer's Comments: This was written before season 3 started, so it's mostly been Kripke'd. There was a lot of stuff at the time where Sam gets Dean out of Hell; this one has Dean saving himself.
Title:
Stacking BonesAuthor/Artist:
glassshoeRating: PG
Length/Word Count: Long.
Warnings/Spoilers: AU after 3.16
Summary: Sam never gave up on Dean, but he didn’t save him either.
Reccer's Comments: Dark, heartbreaking, impossible. OH DEAN. OH SAM. OH BOBBY. So gorgeously wrought at every turn.
Reccer's Caveats: *cries*
Title:
The Next Town OverAuthor/Artist:
kresRating: PG
Length/Word Count: Unknown.
Warnings/Spoilers: AU after S3.
Summary: Dean keeps to the yellow line.
Reccer's Comments: Beautifully paced with a pervasive tension that is both mellow and charged at the same time.
