Challenge: Potions and Amulets
You are walking through a heavily wooded area when you see something glimmering in the bushes just off your path. It has an unnatural shine, like the gleam of moonlight on bone. You go to it, and push back the leaves and brambles covering it. It's a ring, pure silver, with odd etchings running around the band. Though your conscious mind screams at you to drop it and run, you feel compelled to slide it onto your finger...
Or!
As you set your glass down, a strange lethargy seeps into your bones. It seems to demand that you sleep, sleep, sleep... a deep and dreamless sleep that will heal all your aches and soothe all your pains. As your eyelids drift shut, you catch the glint of mischief in your companion's smile, but it is too late. Your will is gone, and all you can do is sleep, sleep... sleep, and ... obey....
OR!
The final blow never falls; you look up, and see the ghoul's arm raised to strike you down, but its fists rain down on nothing, as if the very air around you had hardened into stone. An arc of golden light surrounds you, bright as a summer day; it appears to be emanating from the thin leather bracelet you found left in a hotel night stand just a few days ago...
... Or?
Let's just say, someone finds something that does something! or takes something that does something! or is given something that does something! And all of those somethings? Are completely up to you.
All we ask is that you write something where something does something to somebody... and that you leave the 2nd person to the Gamemaster's, to whom it so rightly belongs.
You have until Sunday, August 31st, to make something Magic happen!
