To get the ball rolling, here's two small things that really caught my eye. There was a lot of awesome (like the Maze!Bunker and hammer time and prettily lit everything etc.), but these are on top of my head right now.
The scenes with Sam curing demon!Dean are to a large degree lit from above so that Dean's eyes are shadowed which makes him look appropriately demony. And then when the black dissolves from Dean's eyes, he's fully lit with no shadows on his face because it's all Dean. The shadows on demon!Dean's face aren't consistently there in every shot, but during the short time we saw our Dean, he was pretty well lit and Jensen nicely finds the light here to show that this is not a demon!Dean. \o/
And then there's the flashback to Sam promising Lester that he can have his revenge. The camera pans into the flashback from Sam's face but instead of Sam fading away, everything else in the previous scene is replaces with the new one and Sam's face stays there until the camera's panned far enough. I don't know if there's a technical term for this, but I found it pretty awesome. :) The same is repeated when the flashback ends and the camera returns to now!Sam.
I can remember only one time in Show where this trick has been used before and that was in 3x15. It's awesome that Jensen's trying things like this!
Loved what they did with the lighting in Dean's cure scene. That transition was so fast and so startling that I was like, "Wait, what just happened?!" That's awesome you can recall when/where it's been used before. :)
Oo, yes! It's lit from mainly above so that demon!Dean has his eyes still a bit shadowed but just a small tilting of the head, and voila, we have cured!Dean. :)
I remembered that it was a hospital scene from the earlier seasons with both boys asking questions. And snarky "I had my kidney stolen" guy was pretty memorable. :) Also, my brain is weird.
