TWOP shutting down

Wow... kind of a shock. That was my go-to place when I first got into fandom, back when Spn first aired. I spent many hours there, reading comments seconds after episodes aired. Good times.

Same, this site really kicked off my fandom involvement. Haven't looked at the SPN forum since S4 (yes, spot the Sam girl) but I'll miss the others.

Though I think it deserves its own thread, really. Generally, I think meme might be more lively if more things got their own thread rather than getting buried in generic catch-all threads.

I wonder if there's somewhere we could email to urge the parent company to keep the archives publically viewable? I hate the idea of all that text being lost forever.

I never visited that place but I know it was important for old fandoms.

There has to be a post or page with a full statement and explanation somewhere...? I went to the front page but the link in the little announcement box just goes to a list of all the shows.

I couldn't find anything at TWoP, which seems weird. I did find this: http://recode.net/2014/03/27/nbcuniversal-owned-dailycandy-and-television-without-pity-will-be-shut-down/

Which seems to be saying they are going to keep archives of everything, but those archives will not be browsable by the public :(

Is wayback machine still operational? Maybe someone can ask them to archive the posts.

Oh yay! I just might save some of my favourite recaps anyway, in case they go back on it, but it'll be nice to have that resource up if I ever start watching older shows.
