Castiel accidentally claimed Dean as his mate when he rescued him from Hell, so Castiel is Dean's mate, but because Castiel is an angel with no drive to mate anyone, Dean cannot be Castiel's. There are parts here and there I kinda like. I'm not so sure about "you see in black and white until you find your mate/are in their presence," which seems like it must've been borrowed from soul mate fic somewhere, and is a major part of the story. Mostly I'm hoping I don't have to watch Dean pine after Cas from seasons 4-8 before getting to any new developments. They're in S6; just have Robo!Sam spill the beans!
(Of course, now I want Robo!Sam a/b/o Sassy, except thinking about it further, it might be hard to find a scenario that didn't squick me, especially if the story adhered to the control aspects that pop up in a/b/o.)

It's from Wings of Desire/City of Angels. It's all over D/C fic and I absolutely fucking despise it.

I'm familiar with Wings of Desire/City of Angels, but didn't know "angels see in black and white" had been translated into "soulmates/mates/whatever start seeing in color when they meet."
It seems really dumb to me. "Seeing this person causes new cones to form spontaneously in my eyes!"

lol, Dean rarely looks like Dean, because Jensen Ackle's face is a jerk. I don't judge artists too harshly for not getting him quite right, not least of all because I can't get anywhere close. Now, when "Dean" is symbolized by a guy with bright yellow hair and dark polka dots all over his face, then I judge.

Oh, I can't draw anything at all -- I'm worse than Sam. But the piece did make me wonder a bit why Frank Hardy was sitting by Sam Winchester's hospital bed. Probably somewhere there is a moving h/c scene where Joe Hardy is being watched over by a slightly puzzled Dean.

Yeah, Dean's face is rarely accurate in fanart. I think petite-madame gets it right, but her style is pretty reailstic (and she's really good!), and it's harder to do with more cartoonish styles.

Yes, that's very true, re: simplification. An accurate portrait's a lot less important when the drawing's stylized, which is a good thing, because Dean's face is very difficult to put into a more cartoonish style without losing the resemblance, whereas, say, Sam and Castiel translate a lot easier. Like I said, Jensen's face is a jerk.
