There's fic I dislike, and then there's Lost and Found. The mere mention of it makes me angry.

I feel like Lost and Foud is to me the way BLoD is to most. The way it handles concepts of health and self-esteem, among other things, is pretty messed up in my opinion. Normally if I read a fic I dislike I just move on, but this one makes me ragey because it seems to haunt me everywhere I go with people praising it and I'm left to sit here like D: because I don't agree with what they have to say. At all.

I've tried to read it a couple of times to see what the (mostly negative, in my experience, but I've only seen it discussed on meme, so ... grain of salt) fuss is about, and I like some of mediaville's other works, but I am totally unable to get past the first couple of thousand words. My interest just peters out almost immediately.

DA, I hate Lost and Found and BLoD for different reasons. With BLoD it was the lack of promised happy ending and the disappointment when i'd loved the writer's previous fics. With Lost and Found it was the whole story, and the way it treated the subject just made me rage. And seeing it get recced as a good example of the way to deal with weight issues just annoys me so much.

Anyone still reading the Mikey!verse? Why did the anon who used to post quotes from it stop? Anyone willing to regale us with more gems from it.

Hi!

I'm the anon who somehow suckered myself into reading Mikeyverse. Somewhere after the half-million word mark, there was an exciting bit where the world found out about the incest oh noes, and we discover who's a good or a bad person, because the bad people Just Don't Understand Love and disapprove. Then John makes a demon deal to erase these events, and I was very nearly genuinely enjoying the story because of the interesting link to canon spn. Demon deal! What will happen next?

What happens is we spend a lot of time on the preparations for Ollie's 6 month birthday party. JFC *another* celebration on top of the other birthdays and anniversaries that take up 75% of the fic! I was a little crushed and demotivated. Also I am mostly internetting on my phone these days. I have been eyeing my computer and its Mikeyverse bookmarks lately, though.

No! Lovely to see *you* and your fondness for the peacocks and tiny urinals. Which, honestly, still make me giggle. I've skimmed ahead and don't know if Dean ever makes a demon deal. I do know that he and Sam discover a long-lost brother, who naturally they fuck. There's also a whole lot of time travel and kinda RPF with Jared and Jensen, the actors they hire to portray them in the movie.

Which I got from a rec list of deaged Dean fics. The premise being that Sam does a ritual to save Dean from hell that involves Dean getting reborn, with Sam as the mother; only due to reasons the magic goes wonky and ends up knocking up Xander Harris. I think I need vast quantities of brain bleach or alcohol to recover from reading this one. And someone to tell me that it'd be a very bad idea to explore the rest of the fics on the writer's site.
