Masterpost summary: Jensen is lost in the woods, and Jared finds him.

Summarized w/ spoilers:

(Ella Enchanted AU, does what it says on the tin.)

Jensen, due to pernicious political plotting (incidentally, many of the non-J2 focused plot threads wander off/aren't resolved at the end of the fic but whatever, it's about the romance), is wounded in the woods while on some kind of faux-medieval diplomatic functionary gig. Jared the lonely woodsman who happens to be a healer (and his cast of companion animals) finds and cares for Jensen.

As Jensen recovers from his injury, the Js are attracted to each other, but Jared is sometimes awkward, especially when they go to the village one afternoon to sell some of Jared's herbs and medicines.

Jensen hits on Jared, dubconning him a little bit, but Jared doesn't mind, and for Jared's very first time there is sweet submission with orgasms. Though after, Jared won't come back to Jensen's city and court life with him. Woe! Did their night of sweet loving not mean as much to Jared as to Jensen? No, Jared says it was meaningful, he's just not good around people. Or something.

But as Jensen starts on his lonely way back to court, leaving his rustic love forevermore in the woods, a plot-device Jensen's lost-for-dead but not dead yet father, in urgent need of healing, shows up. They go back to Jared's! Jared heals Jensen's father! But at great cost! Of, like, almost all his life-force! Jensen's father is also a dad-ex-machina, because it turns out (once he's recovered enough to talk) that he in the olden days he knew Jared's parents and -- tahdaa! -- about the curse Jared's been living under and about his life-force sapping thing. So he 'splains it to Jensen, Jensen orders Jared to not die and get healthy, and after that Jared magically is immune to orders! And can come live with Jensen and be his love at court. (But what about the dogs and the cat and the horse and the cow and the chickens? And the whole political intrigue that landed Jensen in the woods and made dad near-dead and briefly seemed to try to be some kind of B-plot for the fic? Eh, who cares.)

Still, happy ever after, with -- joy! -- Jared indicating that Jensen maybe still ordering him around in bed a little would not be a problem.

The upshot: If you like fantasy type AUs, misunderstanding fics, and (inadvertent) mind control elements done in a very romance-focused but pretty cute way, give this a try.
