Cops and Robbers
I love J2!AUs. And that probably doesn't surprise anyone. I love that there is probably a story out there for practically anything you can think of. Today I'm going to focus on the law and various aspects of it. These are some of my favorites, but most certainly not all. Which ones are yours?
1. It's a Steal by pheebs1 (R, 20k) Summary: Jared gets pulled into Jensen’s catburgling ring.
Ok, I have a thing for the 'good guys doing bad things.' I love the Oceans movies and Leverage. Good fun. This? Is better.
2. Mr. Right Next Door by causeways (NC-17, 30k) Summary: Small-town middle school teacher Jared Padalecki had fallen for a criminal while on a cruise, without a clue who she really was. Now he was home, waiting for her to contact him again, and undercover cop Jensen Ackles' job was to track Padalecki's every move.
This was written for the spn_harlequin challenge, which resulted in a lot of great fics. But this is one that I go back and read time and time again. Jared is adorably clueless and Jensen just fights his attraction so hard.
3. Always By The Book by veronamay (R, 15k) Summary: Jensen's a Special Agent with the FBI. Jared's a witness in a federal murder trial. Can Jensen spend a week in Jared's company without (a) wanting to kill him and (b) completely falling for him?
Is there anyone out that hasn't read this one? Once again, this is a fic I read time and time again. I just love the dynamic between the two.
4. J2 CSI Verse by kelleigh (R - NC-17, 43k+) Summary from 1st fic: He has no idea how to say it, how to tell Jared that he is what Jensen needs. Jared can be what saves Jensen from sharing Grissom's fate. This is based of an episode of C.S.I. called The Accused Is Entitled. It features Chad Michael Murray as Tom Haviland, hence where the idea originated.
I've always been a bit of a science geek and honestly, I loved the idea of being a CSI, if it weren't for all the gore. I love crime procedurals like CSI. So far, there are 5 stories in this verse, plus a couple of ficlets. Start with the Chad ep, replace Grissom with Jensen, add Jared and an intriguing overall mystery that still hasn't been solved and you have this fascinating verse. I'm a fan and I can't wait to see how it all ends up.
