Daemons not demons
His Dark Materials is a series of novels by Phillip Pullman, the first of which has recently been produced as The Golden Compass. In a universe parallel to ours, souls are externalized, in an animal form called a daemon. The stories I am reccing here take this concept into the world of Supernatural. The daemons work brilliantly as a manifestation of a Sam and Dean’s unvoiced or unconscious feelings and allow a subtle, and moving way to explore Sam and Dean’s relationship, in either a Gen or Wincest setting.

These stories are not crossovers as such, as none of them use elements of the novels beyond the daemon - so dive in! And please comment with any other Supernatural fics featuring daemons you have found and loved.

Dean’s daemon won’t settle on a form until something is resolved, on the way we get a view of how the first two seasons of Supernatural may have looked if the boys had daemons.

After an incident when they are young, Sam is raised by Bobby, and Dean by John. The two boys need to be kept apart…or do they?
