Reading this was such a treat!!! Not least because it's a genre I don't tend to pick up much on my own--the post-injury, post-series semi-domesticity, not the Sam and Dean in general, haha--but in this I found myself absolutely adooooooring all the random elements I tend not to look for in fic because they are so well done and I am just in love. <3 I'm in love with Garth's delightful children, minor in the fic but clearly-defined and vibrant in their them-ness (the same goes for like, literally all the random people Sam mentions Dean having known or knowing--from the old lady biker gang (!!!!!) to the fallen hunters). The houses, the Bunker, Rufus's journal, and very specifically Rufus's handwriting, which Sam brings to life so astonishingly here. There is just so much vitality to every characterization I kept reading to the next paragraph with my heart bursting with love for everyone and the unerring conviction that I would follow them absolutely anywhere. Which is pretty much as SPN as you can get for me--and if it's not a rare ( ... )

Thank you so much for this lovely story! I'm reading it with tears behind my eyes but a smile on my face, there's so much here of everything I love about the show and fanfic. I love how the brothers manage to carve a place of peace out for themselves while still remaining connected to the hunting community, how they've strengthened that community by their efforts and by opening up their home--or homes--to others. I love seeing Garth's twins as a part of their lives, the images of Dean shooting pool with a gang of women and Sam gardening, the humor in the banter and Dean playing with the Funny Stick, the easy comaraderie between Sam and Dean and the image of them in old age. I love the nostalgia that permeates this piece as they casually mention bits of their history, and my heart aches for the list of people they've lost ( ... )

This was truly beautiful! All the details, and everything about Sam and Dean was perfectly in character...

As far as I am concerned, no matter what heartbreaking end the show gives us, for me this is the real end.

Thank you for this beautiful gift!

Wow. I got a little ... emotional ... reading this. This is how Supernatural should end. Not with the boys going out in a blaze of glory, but this way. Still the Sam and Dean that we love, yet older, softer, at peace. Beating the odds as they always have, surviving to become legends, teachers of the next hunter generations, keepers of the flame. This is the ending they deserve. Thank you, mystery writer, for this beautiful peek into the Winchesters’ future. I LOVE this.
