Very nice! I like all the little details of the shows Jack's watching and the doughnuts and such--helps keep the fic grounded in a particular place and time and physicality, which then gives a more solid framework for all the emotional thematic stuff to build off of.

Oh, I really loved this! Jack's POV was so heart breaking, wanting to help Sam and feeling unable to do much. I don't blame him for being upset with all the people leaving Sam, even if I can't really blame them either. It's good to see Sam get some support from someone.

Sam's spiraling was written very believably. I liked that he snapped out of it a bit to help Jack with his bandages, even if it's a little late. And Sam pulling himself together once he had an idea of what to do (the spell) is very in character.

I'm so totally sold on the idea of Sam's powers coming back, and the role reversal of Jack trying to help Sam accept them is so pure and beautiful. I wish we could get that in the show.

So glad that Jack's POV worked! It was fun to try to keep it to his experiences and his naive mindset. And Sam's spiraling down and then becoming focus on The Fix is my favorite thing ever. Thanks for the comment!

Ahhh thank you kind gifter for this lovely, carefully crafted story. There were so many things I liked here. I really enjoyed your Jack voice. I think the story worked perfectly as told from his perspective - you really felt his isolation and how much he needed the reassurance that Sam wasn't able to give him, and the effort that it was costing him to hold off. (And oh, sitting in the library for hours after the failed spell trying to get the pencil to move! My sweet boy ( ... )

Sam says he can’t blame them for leaving, but Jack can

Poor Jack :( He was so out of his element here trying to help depressed Sam all by himself and I loved how he took it upon himself to try and make sure that Sam was eating and sleeping and generally taking care of himself (and that he did so strategically, like when he pointed out to Sam that the spell would work better if he was well-rested). I also liked that you showed that Dean's absence was taking a toll on Jack as well and that it wasn't just focused on the effects that Dean being gone had on Sam. Jack falling asleep in the impala and sneaking into Dean's room to look at his photographs was so sweet, as was the fact that Sam was understanding about it. I also loved that he told Jack stories from their childhood-- little details like that really made the fic for me.

The twist in the end where the spell worked for Sam's powers rather than Jack's was very well done! Awesome fic
