Oh wowowow I loved every word of this!! This had all my favourite things: hurt!Sam, delicious conflict, POWERS!SAM, Jack being an absolute sweetie, brother angst and brother comfort. I am so in love with this story and so grateful to you, anonymous gifter, for writing it for me.
There was so much sadness in this fic, with Sam struggling with being blind and Dean struggling to cope with having been possessed, you did a great job of balancing it out with some happy bits. The visual of Jack running around blindfolded, shaking a cockerel in a cage to make it squawk, was my absolute favourite.
Also, Sam and Jack's relationship here was lovely. They have my favourite dynamic in the show currently, and it was so sweet that Jack was always eagerly helping Sam, reading to him, looking after him. I just love Jack a lot, okay.
I think you captured each of their characters perfectly. Jack's innocence and naivety was just right. I can totally picture Dean and Sam reacting to their situations this way: by simply avoiding the subjects, and it was such a great way to end it with them finally opening up.
POWERS!SAM. My absolute favourite thing in the world. You did a great job calling back to 'America Nightmare' where Sam told Magda her powers weren't evil, and himself too. And Dean accepting it is something that's been a long time coming.
