Oh. This is so heart-wrenching and so beautiful. So right. This is how I always imagined Sam in that time, lost, hollow, just a shadow of himself, and you've written it in such a devastating way.

I love this SO much.

I've always believed that the only explanation of why Sam didn't look for Dean is because he had a mental breakdown--and you describe it perfectly.
