Oh wow! This was so so so perfect. It's everything I adore in fanfic: hurt!Sam, protective!Dean and incredible writing. Some of my favourite lines:

and there's nothing left on the pebbled beach but two brothers and their memories of a girl they once knew. - so much said in so few words, wow!

Her blonde hair is fanned out, the gentle lap of the water on the stony beach pulling her curls straight and making it look longer than Sam remembers. Her head is turned to the side, lake water filling her mouth and covering one of her still-open blue eyes. - such gorgeous imagery!

But Sam watches Jess burn most nights anyway, and maybe seeing this hunt through to the end will make a difference, maybe it'll help in some twisted way, like some kind of closure. - oh, Sammy!!

I loved every word of this, it was so heart-achingly beautiful, something I'm going to keep saved for a rainy day. Thank you so so so much for writing something so incredible for me!

\o/ I'm delighted that you enjoyed your gift fic!!! Your prompts were all so tempting, but I loved the idea of Sam and Dean having to deal with a monster that looks like Jess, and all the painful memories this dredges up for Sam.

Thank you for pointing out all lines and imagery that you enjoyed, and for your lovely positive comment - I really appreciate it. Take care :)

Thank you so very much! I love seeing a quiet and kind of pensive Dean, trying to share memories to help them both face the lies ahead. I love brotherly moments like this. Take care :)

Very, very fine, indeed! I got chills reading, all the descriptions were so vivid and Sam's grief - knowing he's already forgotten so much about Jess - gah! And Dean saying all the right things, that little glimpse into their Dad's grief... So many layers of pain and love! Just awesome!

What a lovely comment - thank you so very much! I do have the biggest soft spot for season 1 and where the boys were as brothers, as well as Jess and Sam's grief. This seemed like a perfect opportunity to explore all those feeling again, kind of like in Providence when Dean talks to Sam about Jess and Sarah.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Take care :)
