Oh Dean! You stupid, stubborn, self centred, selfless idjit.
Beautifully written, both Dean's emotional fragility and the scene setting. Loved it!

Such a wonderful coda to one of my favorite episodes! I love the peek inside Dean's head.

Oh thank you for this dear anon - it was just what I wanted and needed. Fallout from injuries is never really addressed in the show (apart from Sam's sling!) and 'Red Meat' is one of my fave episodes ever!! I wanted them to deal with Sam's injuries and Dean's attempted suicide but it was, as usual and due to time constraints no doubt, brushed aside.

This story deals with it how I know it would go down if we were party to Sam & Dean after Red Meat. The two boys are so much in character and I felt the stab of bitter sweet tears when I read this.

Thank you again - tis awesome and I love you!!

You are so welcome! It was a great prompt. I'm a big fan of Red Meat (aren't we all?) so it was a fun challenge to come up with something different and more intimate for it.

These are such genuine voices. Such a lovely illustration of where Dean always stands - right on the line between caretaker and martyr, leaning toward one direction or the other depending on the circumstance.

Thanks! That's a great way to put it. Such a great character that he can have one foot in both of those at the same time.
