1. The boys are so young and it takes so little for Sam to think things are perfect. Can't pick one line or phrase, cause they're all warm and happy making.
2. Sam's eyes widen. "He did?" he asks, knowing he sounds far younger than his thirteen years, but the thought of Dean throwing up over a rabbit is just more than Sam could ever have hoped for. Not in his wildest dreams. This just makes me grin. Love an understanding John.
3. He follows Dean following Dad, and he wishes that the strike of a match could give his family a little peace. oh, Sam...old enough to understand how hard things are.
4. Suddenly, Sam feels more like the prey than the hunter. LOL! Sweet.
5. This section is my favorite one. Love determined Sam and all the flame images.

Oh, lovely fic. Five first hunts for Sam, all different, but all with a thread running through them that is all about being a Winchester. Even the first section, bittersweet because Sam's idea of perfection is constrained in particular ways, and the fourth with its hunting imagery tangled in with Sam's interest in a girl. The last line in 3 and the last line in 5 both grabbed me particularly hard. They said so much about Sam, in fire imagery--again all about being a Winchester--and in ways that formed perfect landmarks for Sam's journey at each point in time.

And, yeah, I think I could make a pretty good guess who wrote this. We shall see.

This was lovely. Well written, with no wasted words, but without leaving out the details that make the stories compelling.
