HOLY. SMOKES. Wow, I loved every word of this, from the perfect title, to the repeated worry, the tiny, niggling idea that is something wrong, from something so small as the fact that Jess doesn't wear nightgowns. A good observation about the show, actually-- why would a sporty, modern type of girl who normally sleeps in boy shorts and a (albeit artfully/sexily) torn Smurfs T-shirt suddenly have a 50s-style, lacy white satin nightgown

I can't tell you how happy this comment made me. The fic isn't very long, but I had a lot I wanted it to mean, and I am absolutely ecstatic to find out that so much of it came through to you.

I actually didn't sit down with the idea of deconstructing that white nightie from the pilot; the first line about Jess not having a nightgown basically wrote itself. But then I liked it and wanted to develop it, because the show's use of the white nightgown, innocent-lamb-to-the-slaughter imagery has always bugged the heck out of me.

Anyway, thank you SO MUCH for all your thoughts. I seriously kept this comment in my inbox for a week or more just so I could go back and read it again. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. :)
