Perfectly slice-of-life, but also perfectly Winchester. I love the way you (and them) pull the genre to create something so refreshingly distinct. I love that last line, too. And also, I have an absurd love of Sam's ruminations re: seeming like a management consultant to the waitress. I , love love the idea that he develops her imagination of him in such detail. I enjoyed reading this a lot!! And congrats on your first SPN fic--one of a long and storied career here, I hope. :DD

Thank you! I thought since they are (mostly) hanging out in a town for the first time in years, they'd have some sort of interactions with the locals. People probably speculate about Sam all the time!

I really liked this! It was so in-character and felt very thoughtful and rich in detail. Even though not much happens you gave me lots to think about

That last exchange was PERFECT!

I loved this entire story, but that last exchange was just BRILLIANTLY in character!

Thank you! The last exchange is heavily inspired by Every Man Has His Own Story by yohkobennington from last year's exchange.

Wonderful depiction of nesting!Dean and reluctant-to-settle Sam. I loved it - and it was your first SPN fic? Great job! I loved Dean's hopefulness and patience, which is something he shows with Sam sometimes even though you wouldn't think it was a trait of his at first glance, and you could sense Sam's baggage weighing him down, preventing him from hoping, from bonding to the place in the same way. Lovely.

Thank you! :)

As soon as Dean said he was nesting in s8, I thought to myself: that's a character trait that will be interesting to explore.
