It was a strange feeling, this urge to hunt. Sam had never felt it so strongly before and as much as he didn’t want to spend his life living like his dad hopping from motel-room to motel-room, he also needed to make sure they did this one hunt.
I like this. It makes so much sense that the one thing to motivate Sam to hunt would be the chance to give another kid his life back. ♥
I love the truncations and seeming non sequiturs of Sam and Kade's first conversation/swingset bonding with each other--that Kade leaves off after he says he's from Omaha, and Sam's simplified "My brother is weird." Kade's no-questions acceptance of that. Really lovely handling of their relationship and the scene.
Watching Sam at work is always a pleasure, too--I loved seeing him so young here, deducing the case, putting in the legwork, and trying his best to tie up loose ends with Kade's father, the well-being of the actual family, as well as dealing with the supernatural problem--hunting things, but also saving people. Nice work!
“I don’t want to cut your damn hair,” Dean groaned. Oh, how things change! XD
Your perspective of young Sam's struggles with the life that mirror his later feelings is very well done. There was some fantastic detail in the imagery as well.

This is so sad, bringing into sharp relief poor Sam's perpetual dilemma: that he is miserable in the life his family is destined to live, and trapped.
